El Indio — Restaurant in New Baden

The food was watery with no flavor, and the service was HORRIBLE. We got there 30 minutes before closing and they were SO SLOW waiting on us. There was only ONE OTHER TABLE. Our waiter came up to us and asked if we were done and we said yes and it took 20 minutes for him to bring us our checks. And then they sat at tables staring at us impatiently whenever we had been done for 20 minutes. WE’RE WATING ON YOU!!! We were also given NO straws, NO silverware, THREE menus for our party of FOUR, and NO pen to sign our checks with!! And we couldn’t ask for any of these items we needed because NO ONE was waiting on us!! We took silverware from another table and I signed my check with my FINGERNAIL!! Several large parties in the dining room and short staffed on a Sunday. No stocked bar, only a few options. However being a MEXICAN restaurant i expected tequila in a variety, and a bartender. Sadly, not the case. Nobody knew what a double was, but English bar jargon can be difficult for inexperienced restaurateurs. However, the food came out hot and delicious. Not a good experience for both of us. I ordered the Durango spl, She ordered the La Gaviota. Took 45 minutes to get our food.... the chicken breast was 1/8 inch thick butterflied, 6 shrimp and just enough queso to say there was some. IT SUCKED. Her plate was skimpy as well, didn't look like a good portion for the price. Service was sparratic, and had to track down a server several times.
