I have never been to Mexico, but now I feel as if I had. This is authentic Mexican food. I will be back, frequently. For a deep dive into the food, I tried the chips and salsa (of course), 3 different types of tacos, and a regular margarita. The salsa is not what I was expecting, in a good way. It was much lighter than I anticipated, almost shockingly different, until I realized it tasted like garden fresh tomatoes. The tacos I tried were cachete (cheek), cabeza (head), and carnitas (my safe pick). The cheek was absolutely my favorite, the flavor is unique, I tasted a slight sweetness and mushroom 9.5/10. The carnita tacos are what really told me this place was authentic. Usually (around here) carnitas are generally just a shredded pork. Authentic style carnitas are pieces of tender pork, sometimes shredded, that are then seared for an extra texture/flavor boost (google maillard browning). The cabeza taco was extremely tender. I've never had this meat before, and found it just wasn't for me. Not that the flavor was bad, but more that it was too subtle. Lastly, the margarita (on the rocks) was garnished with an umbrella and lime. Flavor was more refreshing and lighter than a standard local marg.
I absolutely recommend this location if you are willing to try something different than the normal local "tex mex" style...
