Top Shelf Bar & Grill — Restaurant in New Bedford

Wish I could leave higher than 5 stars because I was absolutely blown away by the service I received from Top Shelf last night!

I had placed a delivery order through GRUBHUB at 7:30 and somehow my order got lost. The app told me someone was on the way to pick it up and that I would have it by 8 but then it changed and suddenly there was no driver or tracking information. I called Top Shelf to see if I could pick up the order instead and they informed me someone had already gotten it. I reached out to GRUBHUB and they told me it had not been picked up and that my new delivery time would be 9:30… 2 hours after I had placed the order! Needless to say, I was VERY upset with GRUBHUB. But here’s where Top Shelf truly shined!

Top Shelf actually CALLED ME to check and see if I had gotten my order yet! When I told them I had not, they offered to remake the order for me to pickup and assured me it would be ready in 15 minutes. I agreed and decided I would cancel the missing order from GRUBHUB. To me, this was the epitome of excellent customer service. A very busy restaurant going out of their way to make sure I got my food and that it would be hot, ready and delicious. I applaud their diligence and cannot thank them enough for going above and beyond for me!

When I picked up the order, I spoke with the manager Bobby and told him how impressed I was by the service his establishment provided to me. The waitress who I had been speaking with was so kind and professional and should be recognized for her efforts.

To top it all off, Top Shelf gave me a free dessert for my troubles, even though NONE of this was their fault!

All in all, not only is their food absolutely amazing (seriously everything I have ever eaten here is a delicacy!), but their customer service is truly unmatched. I will forever sing their praises for this experience.

Children (5–10 years old) sitting at the bar taking seats from drinkers!!!

We stopped in for drinks and apps and were impressed with the food—the little necks and mozzarella sticks were excellent, and the espresso martini flight was spot-on.

That said, we prefer bar seating and figured a place called “Top Shelf Bar” would shine in the bar experience. Alas, not. It was surprising to walk in and see young children at the bar, taking up seats I assumed would be reserved for adults ordering top-shelf cocktails. We raised it with both the host and our server—both shrugged it off. If it’s a family-style setup, that’s totally fine—just tell people upfront so they can decide if it’s the vibe they want.

Once seated at a table, service started out promising. But after my first drink, no one ever checked back for a second round. They didn’t have Woodford Reserve for my Manhattan—which was fine—but again, for a place called “Top Shelf,” it felt off.

The real letdown—and the reason for only 3 stars—is that my glass sat empty the entire appetizer course, and no one returned until we had stacked our plates to signal we were done. We had planned to stay for dinner and try the lemon martini flight, but instead, we left disappointed and thirsty. I ended up getting two more rounds at another bar.

Great food, solid cocktails—but not the place to go if you're expecting a true...

Literally one of the best dining experiences ive had.

The selection is so large that i expected typical processed bar food but i was totally surprised by the HIGH QUALITY ingredients and the clearly highly focused cooking skills of the chef.

Everything was prepared to perfection.

The atmosphere was fun and inviting even though covid has the place spaced far apart.

The Calamari app was delicious with the vinigarrette glaze and the delicios dipping dauce.

I then ordered a margharitta pizza..

A pizza that is so hard to find done right especially locally. The pizza was delicious and the crust charred lightly but the sauce and fresh basil made this one of my favorite pizzas around.

Then the bourbon tips with a cold beer was fantastic. Cooked perfectly paired with baked potato and a surprisingly delicious home made mav and cheese that was as surprising as it was tasty. The mac and cheese was different and fresh and clearly home made

I highly recommend this resturaunt if you want delicious food.
