This is my favorite local New Hampshire restaurant of all time. Period. Quaint, classic New England feel with the best atmosphere, food, and scenery. First, let's talk location: easy to access on 13 with a huge dirt parking lot. Folks hitting the slopes in the winter OR cruising on the bike in summer NEED to stop here. Next, let's discuss which Molly's building to eat and drink at...we love the charming restaurant, but the cozy Tavern itself is also fantastic. The main restaurant boasts one main level of dining, plus another section, and a lower area. Additionally, there is the Battery Pub (not the Tavern) within the main restaurant (check photo!). The Battery Pub window seats are my favorite locations in the winter when it's snowing. A few steps away in another building is the actual Tavern and its outside dining area. Inside boasts a huge fireplace for the winter crew, but also there's a summer/spring MASSIVE deck and outside dining area where kids/adult kids can eat, drink, and play by the river or at the outdoor pool table. We love hitting Molly's for apps/drinks on football Sunday's with the fire roaring in the Tavern, or getting into the old fashioned Goat Room for drinks and food on a cold winter night. Speaking of food: salads, burgers, tips, meatloaf, sandwiches, wraps, mac & cheese, fish & chips, the list goes on and on. Comfort food at its best. The bartenders and servers are always ready with a smile and a story for the kids. The drink menu is cool with very strong drinks. My cousin has insane dietary restrictions and they were most accommodating. Can't say enough about Molly's, go check it out!

Quaint and friendly. A place for locals to meet to enjoy craft beer and comfort-style food. Learned that the place was actually a meeting spot for the Gravity Research Foundation! Lots of interesting history and facts about the establishment. Roger Babson (1875-1967) was a pioneering investment analyst who predicted the Wall Street Crash of 1929. He was the founder of Babson College. And he disliked gravity, which he blamed for the deaths by drowning of his sister and his grandson. In 1948 Roger Babson established his Gravity Research Foundation "with the possible hope that some day the force of Gravity may be controlled." The Foundation was located in New Boston, because as its pamphlet explained: "Experts at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology advised a location which would be relatively free from damage should a bomb be dropped on Boston, Massachusetts, 65 miles away. A farm more than 100 years old was purchased and renovated, at New Boston, New Hampshire, for use as headquarters." Eventually Babson and his Foundation owned many properties including buildings on High Street, Mont Vernon Road and Hooper Hill Road. The headquarters occupied what is now the Molly Stark Tavern, then a big farmhouse on Route 13 just south of the village center.

Perhaps the bar is ok...but don't expect fine dining! Recommended by a local our party of 8 were impressed with the atmosphere of cozy historic ambiance. Wait staff of one was pleasant and anxious to please. We began ordering and became concerned. "Sorry we are out of that...we had a wedding this weekend!"..ok how about this! "Sorry I'll have to check?" Finally we ordered some soup, steaks, alfredo, salad, etc. My wife noticed a lot of yelling in the kitchen about not having enough steak, baked potatoes, soup. So the embarrassed waiter spent the next 2 hours telling us we only have enough for 1 soup out of three, 2 steaks instead of three ordered after waiting for a long time. More yelling in the kitchen meant they were out of something else. To stay the least we never experienced this type of chaos. Perhaps the restaurant is temporary experiencing hard times with obtaining knowledgeable staff, chef's, supply, and management. Such a well known place deserves corrective action. Unfortunately we were the victims this Sunday. Hope it gets the help it needs.

Amazing Review for Molly's Tavern Bartenders: Ashley, K8T, and Gillian

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Molly's Tavern has always been my go-to spot, but what truly sets it apart is the incredible team behind the bar. I cannot say enough good things about Ashley, K8T, and Gillian!

From the moment you walk in, these amazing bartenders make you feel right at home. Ashley's warm smile and friendly demeanor create an inviting atmosphere. Whether it's your first visit or a regular hangout, she remembers your name and your favorite drink, which makes you feel like part of the family.

K8T brings an exciting energy to the bar that is simply infectious. Her enthusiasm for mixology shines through with every concoction she whips up. You can tell she loves what she does, and she’s always happy to recommend something new if you're feeling adventurous. Each drink she crafts is not just a beverage; it’s an experience!

And then there's Gillian, whose charm and efficiency are unmatched. Despite how busy things can get, Gillian always keeps her cool, serving drinks and interacting with patrons with such grace. Her knowledge of the drinks menu is impressive, and she always has the perfect suggestion to suit your mood.

Together, Ashley, K8T, and Gillian make for an unbeatable trio. Their teamwork, laughter, and genuine passion for making your night special is truly what makes Molly's Tavern a standout bar. If you haven’t had the pleasure of experiencing their service yet, you’re missing out on a fantastic night out! Cheers to the best bartenders...

Molly's Tavern is an American style eatery located in New Boston. We were a party of four early on a Saturday evening and were the only ones there when we arrived.

We started with the Stuffed Mushrooms which were tasty but the portion was on the smaller side. Three of us had the 12 oz. Prime Rib which was hit or miss but make sure to order the Onion Rings for a side. Two of the plates had a good sized portion which was tender and tasty. The third plates was a smaller cut than the other two and was not as tender or tasty as the first two. The fourth dinner was the Mac n Cheese with Steak Tips. It was a good sized portion. The Steak Tips were excellent and the Mac n Cheese was creamy and delicious. Truly the best dish on the table.

The rating for Atmosphere would have been higher if not for the constant cold air wafting by the table. We ate in the restaurant which is a renovated old barn complete with "The Goat Pen" private seating area that can be used for larger parties or semi-private functions. Unfortunately 80% of the seating is located along the outer walls of the old barn which has no insulation. The freezing night air just radiates through the outer walls. To be comfortable we had to keep our jackets on for the entire time we were there. I am not sure Molly's is worth the 30 minute drive it took to get there but if we do go back it will definitely be in the...
