Our Lady Bar & Patio — Restaurant in New Braunfels

Have been wanting to try Our Lady for sometime now and we finally went on Friday evening. Had read reviews about the food being below par but wanted to see for ourselves. Sat outside at a picnic table and played some cornhole in the game area and it was nice. I was disappointed to find out that they don’t serve any frozen drinks, especially in the heat we have here, so I just drank water. We ordered queso and chips as appetizer and was told it would be 10 minutes because they were making a new batch. We were fine with that. When they brought it out we were quite surprised. The portion was very small, and it looked like something they poured out of a jar that you buy in the store, not like queso at all, and not even hot, temperature wise. The chips were round Tostitos. We went ahead and ordered an order of brisket tacos, and an order of chicken tacos. There were 3 of us and the 2 women were going to share, 3 came in each order. They were served open face on a very small flour tortilla, with small cup of beans. Not much taste to them either. As one reviewer said, you are in competition in Gruene, Texas. I don’t see this place making it unless the food menu is stepped up a lot! It’s a shame because it’s a nice place and nice atmosphere. Also need to make this a family place to go to. Before I wrote a review of this place, I wanted to make sure I wasn't totally mis-reading the OWNER'S persona. After reading so many negative One-Star reviews, it's obvious that she is a true Jekyll & Hyde. My guest and I stopped in for a few cocktails, as we were touring thru Gruene for the day, having a truly great time. We were into our second cocktails & my guest was beginning a conversation with another couple next to us. The OWNER rudely stepped in and asked my guest to return to her seat at the Bar and discontinue the great conversation she was having with the other couple. The other couple BTW appeared to be having a great time with the conversations for about 10 mins. I guess this OWNER thinks it's her job to determine who can have a conversation with who. There's a word for that kind of OWNER, but she already knows what it is, as she is such! To say the least, I quickly paid up and we left due to the OWNER'S shocking behavior and absolute rudeness. What a shame for such a POTENTIALLY great place to be owned by such as schizophrenic psyco. Be careful going there and watch for the Jekyll & Hyde show to...

I wandered into this place on June 20th to grab a couple of Margherita pizzas for my vegetarian wife and daughter as the rest of my family was enjoying some take out bbq. The pizza was great, my wife and daughter were very pleased. I later had a slice for an evening snack and I too thought it was a great slice of pizza. It is Neapolitan style pizza (thin crust) that is true to the real deal. I only tried the pizza so I cannot attest to the rest of the menu but I would have given it another chance if we had been around longer. I do want to point out that I had a beer while waiting on my pizzas and struck up a conversation with Jennifer and Bobby, the owners. I can honestly say that if the pizza had simply been average I would have still returned because of Jennifer and Bobby. They were both engaging, easy going, genuine people to talk with. I very much enjoyed the 20-25 minute conversation/interaction I had with both of them. I highly recommend this place as an alternative to the busy downtown Gruene...
