I wanted to love this place so much but I know I will be back and it will be great. I think the place is recently renovated and with that comes working through some kinks. First off, the area by the river is BEAUTIFUL! Looks like they are setting up a wellness area with saunas which is an incredible idea. I love the music area setup, the pickle ball area and the cute bar area. Very aesthetic. I actually stayed here before it was La Hacienda once upon a time and my husband and I had a memorable stay, So we definitely see the elevated look and appreciate it. The only issue was (maybe it’s cause it was Labor weekend) was the overflowing trash bins around the property spilled on to the floor. I saw a little girl playing with a vodka bottle and some cans. Maybe more bins around the property or maintenance staff to help with that would be a quick fix. Again, it could have been more so about the Labor Day weekend. The other couple of things were more room specific. It could have been been maybe just our room, but there was no room overhead light other than the lamps which made getting dressed kind of difficult if you gave more than one guest and say 4 in the room. We all had only a tiny bathroom vanity mirror. Also, the bathroom sliding door does not have a handle on the inside and the door is heavy. Good thing mom had her phone in the bathroom with her so she could call us to help her get out. I was out walking around and had to back and assist her so she could get out. My 28 yr old daughter said it was hard for her too and she works out. I was thinking that maybe my mom being elderly, but no. I also think for being so new, the cleanliness could be a little better. There was a very visible dirty handprint on the wall behind the toilet, some hair on the bathroom floor as soon as we got there and dry grass on the main room area rug. The beds were awesome though, and very comfortable. My daughter stayed on the smaller queen bed and she said she couldn’t sleep all night cause it was hot. I guess we got lucky cause the window unit was right by us and our bed but we realize there is just that unit so it may be too far from bed 2. I do think all these things are fixable and I envision a beautiful and...

We stayed in the family suite, #4 and there were some major issues with the property and our room:
The pool was closed when we arrived. It opened later that day but the water was extremely murky and there was no visibility to the bottom of the pool. It may have been safe from a chemical standpoint but pool water should be clear. Swimming in a pool with that little of visibility is frankly not safe for children. They need to figure out how to keep the pool in better shape.
Our room was damp, had a really bad musty smell and the floors were not well cleaned. Our bedspread was also dirty. Come to find out there was a leak in the kids bunk room that was dripping into the upstairs bunk next to the electrical socket and there was mold growing underneath the mattress. There was also a leak in the ceiling of the main room which explains the bad smell. Who knows what we were inhaling. The place needs a new roof and some fans to help better circulate the air. I got a refund for our last day after we found the leaks and we left a day early. I didn't want my daughter sleeping anymore in unsafe conditions.
On the plus side…The location of this hotel is great and it definitely has potential. It has some great amenities onsite, is right next to the river and the clubhouse was cute (with a pool table, shuffleboard and a bar). Unfortunately the margarita I had wasn’t very good…why do places use margarita mix when fresh lime juice is so much better. We didn't try any other drinks.
When we called and texted to complain they were responsive and apologetic so I’ll give them that. But the manager seemed a little defensive about the pool when I inquired about the murky color of the water.
I was definitely expecting more for the price of this place and the previous reviews.
Unfortunately we did not have a good experience and...
Read moreThis place was an absolutely amazing gem to find at the last minute.
My husband and I are from WA state and travel to San Antonio just because we wanted to. We were planning on staying 4 days 3 nights. We stayed 1 and hated it. We officially admitted to ourselves we are not big city people.
We cancelled our other nights at the current hotel and scrambled to find something else the next morning. Then I found Hacienda Del Rio after a very long google search and decided to book it for the next two nights. It's about 30/ 40 minute drive from San Antonio.
Let me tell you this place is absolutely amazing. It's in a good location where it feels far enough away but yet still close to everything. The rooms and property are so beautiful and peaceful.
The room: Spacious, clean and the beds were so comfortable! The bathroom/closet area were big clean, great water pressure everything was great. The only downside (which by no means requires me to take away a star) is that the main room area did not have enough lighting, only small bedside lamps there were not light.
The property: beautiful, country feel, fire pits, basketball, tennis, volleyball areas. Pool and picnic/event area, all of it was maintained great. It was so quiet and relaxing and felt like we were the only ones there. It's right on the river and Paddle TX was on the property to rent out tubes, SUP, kayaks. Renting from them was easy and wonderful.
Checking in: Was great, staff was wonderful and nice.
If property owners/management reads this one suggestion I have is to add rocking chairs or the firepit type of chairs on the room patios.
Over all this place is a gem and I was...
