Maracas — Restaurant in New Melle

I want to express my great appreciation for the warm hospitality and great care of Gabriel, David, and Luis when I visited Maracas for the very first time with a very dear family friend a few weeks ago. From the moment that I placed a call to the restaurant to my departure from the restaurant, I felt their warmth and their sincere desire to be responsive to my very serious seafood allergy. They took extra effort to make sure I would not have any cross-contamination issues, and I left the restaurant with appreciation for their food and with gratitude that I was free of any allergic reaction or sensitivity. I do have a few requests for Gabriel and David: 1.) Please offer a whole wheat option for your tortillas; 2.) Please consider adding a "vegan" designation to any menu item that is not only vegetarian but dairy-free and egg-free; 3.) Please integrate organic ingredients whenever possible; 4.) Please put a warning label regarding just how powerful the “El Yucateco Green Habanero Hot Sauce” is -- it really requires a very hearty GI system; I mean this in all sincerity! We absolutely love the food and the staff at Maracas Mexican Restaurant. BUT, I am really disappointed in being charged a 4% service charge for using our credit card. This is unacceptable. I have never been to a restaurant that charges to use your credit card. Especially, in today's times when using cash is not as acceptable as it once was. I spoke to Gabrielle and he said it was the cost of doing business. As business owners, we realize that there is a cost of doing business with credit cards. To charge our customers would not be acceptable. We have supported Maracas Mexican Family Restaurant since they have opened and all through the pandemic. We will not be anymore, sorry to say. We just moved to the area and decided to stop in for dinner. We’re SO happy we did! We loved that they had a covered patio with fun music to enjoy the nice weather. Chips were warm and perfectly crispy, and the salsa was nice and fresh! We both had house margs, and they were perfection. My fiancé had steak tacos while I had the grande fajita quesadilla with chicken, and both were so delicious with ample portions! Above all, the hospitality is truly what made this experience great and will keep us coming back, for our waiter was very warm and attentive, and the owner was extremely kind and personable, checking on us to make sure we were happy with everything.
