I am highly displeased with Kathy’s as of lately. The customer service isn’t what it used to be. The food seems as if it was prepared days prior. Not to mention the prices have sky rocketed over night. Kathy’s has always been a family favorite of ours for many years but I’m considering giving it up.
My experience today was not good at all. I ordered 2 taco plates and they were highly dissatisfying. The rice was so dry it seemed as if it was made days prior. I also ordered 2 sopapillas and when I got them I was only given 2 honey packets. When I asked for a couple more the lady at the window told me that they are .75 each. Even Kathy’s own worker looked me dead in the eye and said, “I’m so sorry, I know that’s way too expensive.” I just chuckled because she’s right.
Now that’s not just my only complaint. Kathy’s plates have gotten so expensive, it’s unreal. My regular cheese enchilada plate that used to cost just shy of $7 is now almost $12. A carne adovado enchilada plate is now over $17. These prices are absurd. How do prices double over night? I get it that the economy has inflated and prices do change but not by 100%. This restaurant was our favorite because it was affordable and we could feed the family a good meal for a fair price. Now that Kathy has changed her prices to match El Pinto, we just can’t afford to go anymore.
All and all the food has always been good but this place has let me down and I don’t think I’ll be going back. It has just gotten way too expensive and the food nor the customer service match those prices. You can’t ask for more money when your establishment is going...
Read moreIt's been a while since we have eaten here but decided to stop for lunch. We ordered the chicharrone stuffed sopapilla with green chile and the carne adovada stuffed sopapilla. We also ordered 2 plain sopapillas. I really did not care for the food this time. The chicharrones in my sopapilla were way too fatty, and it did not seem like there was any meat to them what so ever. Every bite was like biting into plain fat. They also had no flavor, so that made the taste so much worse. Three bites in, and I gave up on it. The carne adovada seemed the same. There was a lot of fat in the meat. It did have great flavor from the chile, but just like the chicharron sopapilla, we did not finish this one either. It's not like I remember. The food was not as good and way less quality for the money you spend. Needless to say, I probably won't be coming back. I realize the price of meat has skyrocketed, but if you're still going to charge a good price for it , make it a better product. I do, however, have to say, I did appreciate the plain sopapillas with the 1 packet of honey they sent for both. Don't be so cheap with that. At least throw in a couple of packs for each sopa. Read moreI ordered 1 1/2 dozen tamales 2 weeks ago and specifically asked for them warm to be picked up at 1pm. I got there at 1pm, asked for my order. The person went back and wouldn't say, hold on, wait a minute, nothing. Saw the same person come in and out from the back, she wouldn't say a word. I stood there waiting a while, finally, Kathy came out and said they sold out of warm and only had frozen tamales. I was letting her know I ordered 2 weeks ago, before I could finish, she said, "Do you want them or not?" I ended up taking them. She offered to let me have them at $30 a dozen. Instead of $35. I have ordered tamales from there for years but this will be the last time! About a month ago I went in and ordered 1/2 doz. Came home and there were only 4 in the pack. I called and who ever I spoke to just about called me a liar since she did not see an orders for 1/2 a doz. in her orders! She finally offered to replace the 2 missing tamales, i let her know i would not be going right back for them, her response was, "I'm not telling you to come back now!". I let her know she did not need to be so rude. She said I had a week to go back. I didn't bother. At $35 a dozen, it is not worth going through so...
