Colosseo Restaurant & Pizza — Restaurant in New Milford

"Never judge a book by its cover"....

I was not expecting a high food quality, superb presentation and outstanding service, tucked away in what seemed like a bit of a roadside pizza/bar....But that's exactly what I got.

The double doors were a bit confusing and door number one, gets you in the bar....Ok next. Fortunately, the hallway leads you to a pick up counter, that immediately has the actual entrance to the restaurant and dining room.

The ambiance and even the table arrangements, are all well done and not one bad table in the room. There is a more private room but the main area, is the place to be.

Steve, our waiter, was above and beyond expectations for a New Milford restaurant. His ability to engage client's and literally hold down and coordinate an busy evening, was impressive. He had full knowledge of the menu and made all of the patrons feel as if we were regulars....And after this experience, we will be.

The Lobster Risotto was an absolute masterpiece and the Rack of Lamb was perfectly executed and Steve's guidance and suggestions, were spot on.

You need to try their food. I've gone to Colosseo (formerly IL Colosseo) for a number of years. In the past it was a nice Italian restaurant, nothing fancy. I've gone there 3 times since it has changed management. The food has been outstanding. The exterior and interior is modest and the same, but not the food. They have raised it to the next level. On our last visit we started with calamari and asked for the sauce to be fra diavola for the extra kick. Great choice... I then had the mushroom ravioli with marsala sauce and asparagus. I didn't add pepper or salt, I wanted to taste the chef's presentation and respect the dish. My wife had the spaghetti carbonara. Both dishes...

Food for pick up was late and they forgot to make my salads. They took 15 minutes to make the salads while my hot food got cold. Then when I checked the bag before leaving, they had forgot to include two side salads. Offered to make them, but after waiting 15 minutes for them to make the spinach salad and caprese salad, I wasn’t waiting any longer. This was the third time I’ve been disappointed.
