Olive Branch Cafe — Restaurant in New Orleans

Olive Branch Cafe was A1 in book... That's until my last visit yesterday. I am a LONGTIME customer and would always tell anyone who would listen how great the food quality and service was. Unfortunately, things have clearly changed. I use to order the Blackened Chicken Ceasar very often. High quality chicken breast was the norm. My last two salads were served with DRY chicken bits what seems to be doust in kind of Italian herb seasoning and not at all blackened. It was clearly the frozen chicken from the bag and ran through the oven until all reminisce of moisture cooked away. the cruton pieces were bidgger than the chicken pieces. I am used to them serving actual chicken breast cut and blackened then served super juicy. When we finally saw our server again as they mostly hung out in the back, I expressed my concerns about the food. She offered to have the cooks remake the salad. They brought our the wrong salad covered in bacon. Unfortunatly, I could not accept it as I do not eat pork. They remade it again only to bring out more dry chicken and less of a potion salad that they normally serve. This restaurant is absolutely golden! It is a favorite amongst locals and I know why. The service is great and the food is too! After a very long drive, we stopped in and were accommodated fully on the porch with our tiny miniature puppy. I thank you greatly for this! I had asked for the redfish to be added to my otherwise vegetarian sandwich and it was an excellent creation! It actually brought joy to me. 🥰 We also loved the wrap, chips and the spicy dip is famous and famously yummy! Sitting on the porch is serene and the view of the trees is great. It looks s very convenient to find and has lots of parking. People also order and come pick up. It is great for either. If you want to stay, stay and enjoy the scenery and great service. If you want to pop in and take out, do that too! I could definitely see eating here every night or almost every day. I completely and unreservedly recommend! Drive over from wherever you are and get some foodie...

So the biggest takeaway from this place was that their bread pudding was outstanding. We had 2 czar salads with shrimp and one with "grilled chicken." The lettuce was very fresh, but the shrimp were definitely not what I'd expect for,"grilled." they were more like boiled or steamed (very watery & flavorless) . The "grilled" chicken was about the same. The czar dressing was also not what I'd typically expect . It had a sweetness to it rather than the tang or zip you'd expect from czar dressing. It also tasted like it had mustard in it. The dressing was not bad tasting, but it did not taste like czar . We got 2 bread pudding & one piece of cheesecake. The total of our bill with 3 dinner salads & 3 desserts was about $80 (a bit pricy). This definitely seems like more of a takeout kind of place, but it does have some seating for dine in .
