Szechuan Delight Chinese — Restaurant in New Providence

I was there yesterday on 10/29/19 and the service was horrific! My family and I have been going there for at least 3 years now and we always enjoyed the food. Well yesterday was a different story. First of all, we get there and there is nobody at the register nor anybody to seat us. So we already had to wait at least 10 minutes before somebody even saw us to sit us down. Then my food comes out and I ask the waiter for more water and he seemed very disgruntled with an attitude. He then pours the water and it spills into my food (chicken and broccoli). I told him that water was in my food and he seemed to brush it off and ignore me. I had to repeat it to him like 3 times and then he wanted to just transfer it onto another plate. I told him it still has water can I please have another order. He was very resistant and finally decided to bring out only a half of the order. Then we hear staff arguing and yelling in the back in the kitchen. Then some guy comes in I guess to pick up an order and same thing he complained to our waiter that no one was at the front. Instead of getting someone, our waiter just brushed him off. The other customer was angry. Then we hadn’t even finished our food before the waiter was bringing out the check. I have eaten at this restaurant many times through the years and have enjoyed the food very much. However, I am extremely disappointed in their customer service.

Since I live in New Providence, I have always received their brochure via mail which always has included coupons which are valid for a $5.00 discount on a purchase of $25.00 or $30.00 order.

I have tried to use their coupons on two separate occasions...(once while dining within the restaurant and once when ordering take-out . I was mindful of meeting the purchase minimum and they refused to honor the coupons. I was informed that it wasn't valid for lunch. I informed them that nowhere on the coupon nor on the brochure was that stated as a requirement.

We discussed the misinformation at length and the woman rudely admitted that it was their error and that they had mailed new brochures specifying the rule. However, she still refused to honor the coupon.

Since this was the second time that this happened I wonder how many other guests have also been victim to this false information.

As a result of their unethical procedure, I shall never visit this...

My girlfriend and I went here to have lunch, we were told to find our own seat which didn't bother due to it being mostly empty, but then the young waitress we had was very unprofessional. As we waited for our food her and other employees sat and ate across the room, so each time we wanted anything to drink we had to call for her and she would roll her eyes. The food was decent but the worst part is we decided not to give a tip due to the bad service and the young girl CHASED US TO OUR CAR to tell us that we forgot to give her a tip and we began to explain that the service was horrific but it was clear she did not understand so we drove away. The waiter literally came screaming in the parking lot at us as if we walked out without paying all over a TIP she very well did not deserve. I will never return to this restaurant again. We are a young black couple and although prejudice cant be proven. I do not believe the waitress would've chased any one else to their car over a tip.
