The service was very good very professional waiter. Made a reservation , hostess sat us down we where quickly greeted and offered drinks. Food came out promptly; however I ordered veal something that is rare to find on menues around here and I have not had it for a long time. Unfortunately it was disappointing to me. Veal should almost melt in your mouth but mine was chewy. I am not one to bother complaining to wait staff. They want to please. The choices that are typically offered are to remake, pick something else or take it off the bill. Really the only things you can do when you get it wrong. For me there is no do overs, you got to get it right the first time. I am not going to wait for something else or a replacement. I came to eat. It wasn't in-edible it just was disappointing. Now to get something off the bill well that takes a Manger or owner approval. No I don't want to go through that. And yes I ate it. I came to eat. Not to have a discussion about why I ate it if I didn't like it. So you eat it and you chalk it up to an successful choice at that restaurant. I would go back they where very accommodating. Just wouldn't choose that dish again.
Just a note: I am not a fickle eater, I will eat just about anything. But I have been exposed to very good dining and here on the east coast of Florida it has been largely disappointing. I suppose resteraunts don't have to work to hard to refine their mis-steps. They have a continous flow of out of towners that may never come back no matter what they do, they know there will likely always be somebody coming in to replace them. Table turns is the way reteraunts gauge there success as long as they are meeting that goal the owners are happy. In a small area like new Syrmina Beach where they generally repel development where else are you going to go? Mediocre is...
Read moreTLDR: Waitress was great. Food was great. Wait/management was terrible (we waited over an hour for our food with no prior warning and didn't recieve our appetizer, which we ended up needing to cancel entirely). Okay. So, first of all, I want to say that our waitress was amazing (we didn't get her name, but she had braided blonde hair, a cross necklace, and a fire tattoo on her collarbone) and the food was also quite good. HOWEVER, and this is a big HOWEVER, the management and, therefore, the wait was TERRIBLE. While my dad and I understand that the short staffing of having only 1 cook may have been a one-off problem, the manager on-staff (one of the owners) kept seating people even when we had been waiting forever for our appetizer. We noticed that, 45 minutes AFTER ordering our appetizer and meals, tables that had been seated after us were receiving their full meals while we still hadn't even received our appetizer. In fact, we never even received our calamari (thankfully, we were not charged for it): we only received our meals, and that was over an hour after we ordered. There was absolutely no warning about the wait at all. Our waitress was very apologetic and equally frustrated as she kept giving us updates, which was much appreciated and I truly do feel for her as someone who also works in food/drink service. Speaking to the management, we may not be experts in this field (restaurant management), but, please, for the sake of your customer retention and preventing angry customers, I suggest you do not continue seating more people than you can handle. At the very least, provide a warning about the wait like most restaurants do. While the food was great, I really can't see us coming back when the wait was so terrible. If you've (the reader) made it this far reading the review, thank you for listening. You have a...
Read moreYOU HAVE TO TRY THIS. Very cool laid back place. Wear your shirt and shoes. Not real fancy but not a beach spot. Low light. Laid back, can be a good place for a date. You can make it what you want. This place has set the bar high for New Smyrna. Doubt anyone else can beat it. Very friendly folks. Been here 30yrs. Service is great. Food is authentic. This is a must try spot if you are near. I suspect I found a local secret. Owner is a great guy. This was my first stop on vacation. Ill eat here several times before i fly home. Whether or not you like Italian food try this place. Menu is generous. About 10 tables and 8 booths. Could get busy. Parking lot is open. Not a problem getting in and out with even heavy traffic. Ive said it twice already. TRY THIS PLACE!! Took no time to get our food. It was ready before our salads were eaten. Few people can appreciate authentic Italian secret recipes. Too used to Dominos or little Ceasars to know what good pizza is like. The one star reviewer below probably coudnt be satisfied regardless lol. Just try it and decide yourself. You will give my review a thumbs up. UPDATE...3rd visit this week. Still a great place. Veal is amazing. Service is still great and meals arrive just about as soon as the salads are gone. Maybe I got lucky three times but I tend to think this place is for sure five stars! Highly...
