We have been going for years...recommended to friends, but after last evening WILL NEVER STEP FOOT INSIDE AGAIN! It was a beautiful evening and thought sitting outside would be relaxing, and it was until a couple showed up, sat next to us and decided to face time with family who were not at dinner with them. It was so loud, and so very annoying, everyone sitting on the patio did not need to hear the entire FaceTime visit (which lasted over 1/2 hour). First my husband went in and kindly asked the manager if they could possibly speak to the face timing customer and maybe ask they to take it off speaker? Nothing was done.....another 15 minutes later and the face timing was getting worse (even the drink didn't help), I then went in myself to speak with the owner, not only did she say there was nothing that she could do as it was a public place (not true, If she owns it), but she wasn't going to talk to them and didn't even offer us another table to move to. I then told her That was not ok, I would pay for what we had been served, but I was cancelling the rest of my meal and leaving- the OWNER THEN PROCEEDED TO SCREAM AT ME AND MY HUSBAND IN FRONT OF OUR CHILD AND THE ENTIRE RESTAURANT, SCREAMING LIKE AN ABSOLUTE LUNATIC FOR US TO LEAVE THE RESTAURANT. I have never in my life been treated like this and will never step foot in that place again. Anyone who turns away and embarrasses long time clients for rude facebooking entitled aholes is not worth anyone's patronage. The owner is a crazy lunatic who has no business running a restaurant or handling customer service, the wait staff is horrible and the patio use to be worth it, but not anymore. Do not spend your money or look for an enjoyable relaxing evening at this...

This place was recommended by Diane at Lifetime Fitness as I’m always up for trying Mexican places especially in the North Shore. I have to support el gente! Unfortunately they didn’t support me.

My son and I came here for lunch and we were really greeted as the bartender served as the host and a few other employees were doing stuff around the restaurant.

We were seated and my son was hungry so I ordered his food right away which was Quesadillas con Queso. They came out quick but it would’ve been helpful to let me know the rice was a little spicy. If you need a high chair for someone at the table, you should probably let them know about the spice in the rice. Other than that, he ate the food. I asked for milk as well.

I ordered the Carne Asada (yes a heavy my lunch order) but obvs I was hungry. It was very good and had some sort of marinade but couldn’t figure out what it was. The rice and beans were bad as the rice didn’t taste fresh and the beans were blah. Also I had to ask for more corn tortillas since I only got 3. Also the salsas were mediocre.

The service was ok and I was never asked what I wanted to drink. My biggest beef was when other patrons (all Caucasian) walked into the restaurant, they were greeted immediately and made a hell of a lot more welcome than us. It was weird to hear how over accommodating that same person who was on his computer when we walked in, jumped off his seats for the other patrons walking in. The nicest person by far was a women who brought me more tortillas and actually engaged with my son.

No need to come back here but cmon gente, get it together when fellow...

We went to eat yesterday the food was OKAY. But there are lot more restaurants here in Chicago that has more delicious food than what they serve. The server guy which is hispanic with round face knocked down the water in the table, at 1st I thought it was my husband's fault that's why it was knocked out but my husband's explanation was the elbow of the server hit the glass of water with a lot of ice in it. So my point here is the server didn't say any Sorry or ask any apology...for my family to have a quite lunch my husband just wipe the table and the water spill on his clothes and pants and just wipe it down finished the food even he is wet then go home after. The server is kinda rude for not asking sorry and his face looks disgusted for what happened but it was his fault. I'm hoping next time they need to be careful moving the table or serving foods and be considerate. Thank you. Also all the staff should know the good manners and right...

Guanajuato in Glencoe delivers high-quality Mexican food with standout flavors and great presentation. The tacos are excellent. The carne asada is especially flavorful, with fresh ingredients and perfectly cooked fillings. Portions are generous, and the tortillas are warm and soft. The Mexican tortilla soup is a highlight. The broth is rich and well-balanced with a touch of heat, topped with crispy tortilla strips, avocado, and melted cheese. It’s comforting and full of flavor without being heavy. The atmosphere is welcoming and relaxed, and the service is attentive without being overbearing. Guanajuato is a great spot for a casual lunch or dinner with consistently good food and a solid menu.

I recently had the pleasure of enjoying a lunch at this restaurant. The menu offers a wide variety of mouthwatering Mexican dishes. If you visit, I highly recommend indulging in their beef and shrimp fajitas - they were absolutely delicious. Don't forget to save room for dessert because they are both delicious and generously portioned. To complement my meal, I ordered a mango margarita, and it was simply divine. The refreshing and tangy taste perfectly complemented the flavors of my meal, elevating my dining experience to new heights. The modern decor combined with traditional Mexican elements creates a warm and inviting atmosphere. Recommend this place!
