Newaygo Old Town Tavern (The NOTT) — Restaurant in Newaygo

My elderly parents and I enjoyed eating at the NOTT. My dad got the olive burger with onion rings. My mom got the whitefish sandwich with skin-on fries. I had the grilled cheese with tots. My parents both enjoyed their food, but I was underwhelmed by my grilled cheese. It's on the regular menu, but it should be on the kids menu since it only has American cheese on it. I recall you can add protein, but as a vegetarian, I'd like to see the basic version be spruced up a bit for adults with the addition of pesto and tomato, or more than one type of cheese. They do offer a veggie burger, and I will try that in the future. The waiter was personable and did a nice job. However, we were sitting in the side room, and there's no good sight line from the main part of the restaurant/bar, where the servers spend most of their time. Late night Sunday, we needed a bite to eat. This place was open when others were NOTT (😉). I sure am glad they were or I might have missed this gem!

Simple refined menu that does hits the spot. Fresh ingredients and really cool atmosphere. They also serve beef from our favorite local farm, Go Millie's!!! My son got the whitefish sandwhich and I settled on the 1lb of peel and eat shrimp with broccoli on the side. Phenomenal! Shrimp was cooked to perfection and well seasoned (I got mine hot), and the broccoli was fresh and also very well cooked/seasoned. My son loved the sandwhich and he really likes eating fish.

I think I messed up however, as Im not going to want to try anything else off the menu when I come back because I will always want the shrimp. I hope they never run out, but if they do I look forward to trying other menu items. 100% will be back and encouraging others to try...

One of the BEST meals I've had! There's just no other way to start this review. We stopped in here for lunch, because we had never been here before. The atmosphere was cozy and rustic, yet fun. My wife and I, both ordered the steak burgers. I had the Bacon & Cheese burger It was absolutely fantastic! Cooked to a perfect medium, very juicy, not greasy. Everything tasted fresh. It was simply an excellent burger. My wife ordered the fries, while I tried the tots, and again, my first thought was "cooked to perfection!". Very crisp and tasty. Overall, a great experience. Our waitress, Kenzie, was very cordial and polite. Service was great. This is a nice hidden treasure in downtown Newaygo.
