We happened to be in Sherwood for a different reason so, on our way back to Hillsboro, we stopped in before heading through the mountains. We weren't disappointed.
The winery is just at the base of the south slope of the Chehalem Mountains, on the outskirts of Newberg. Not far from George Fox University, in fact. Their tasting room is SUPER new - I think they said it just opened in March 2021 or so - and actually a pretty innovative design. It has a very "lake house" feel to it (something I noticed on the way in), so when I found out the family that owns it is originally from the Milwaukee area of Wisconsin, I wasn't surprised :)
The winery is relatively new, so its selection of wines is limited but, with that in mind, what they have is very good and they augment it with wine from some of their partners. They'll have more to offer in the near future, as well. The most-fun part? At the end of your tasting flight, they serve coffee and chocolates. Interestingly, this was a really nice touch and one that was memorable to my wife and me. Given that we are members at 5 wineries and shareholders in another, this is notable.
If you're gonna be in the Newberg area, this is a stop we recommend. ...
Read moreJust stopped by this morning. We were the first and were greeted by Mac and Sid who introduced themselves and sat us in a large atrium with a view of the winery. It's a casual atmosphere with a substantial Ambiance partially driven by the visible fire in the woodstove and the natural wooden furniture. The brothers are genuine and informative, it's obvious they love doing what they do. They are both proprietors and staff for the winery, helped out by Mom and dad. They harvest the grapes, make the wine, and staff the tasting room. Overall it's just a great place to both taste and learn about wine. They have a great selection of wines, we prefer bold reds and their GSM and Syrah turned out to be our favorites. They end the tasting with coffee and chocolate. So far our best experience tasting while in the Newberg area. Here they treat you like family,...
Read moreMac & Sid have created an incredible experience at King's North Winery. The wines are truly unmatched. I especially enjoy the GSM, but EVERYTHING they have is so damn good! The Syrah was a big hit with the guests we brought with us to taste the magic. Kings North has an impressive selection of bold wines unlike any other winery in the area. The tasting flight is very generous & curated to perfection. I also like how the brothers' mom makes and delivers the beautiful charcuterie boards. I'll be a loyal patron of this place for the fun family team that pours their hearts into the delicious wines they share. I also appreciate that they send you off with coffee & chocolate. PRO TIP: Go at sunset, the views are...
