The atmosphere was very pleasant, and the food was good. My mom and I ate here on our first night in Florida. It was really nice to just walk downstairs for our meal, since we were exhausted from driving all day and it was late.
Our meals started with complimentary buttered rolls paired with dipping oil (excellent!).
My mom really enjoyed her oyster dish. They were exactly what she had been craving. I ordered shrimp pasta, which came with one side. I chose mashed potatoes and asked them to add butter and garlic.
They definitely did not skimp on the garlic. This ended up being a good thing because my shrimp meal was pretty bland. We were eating close to closing and there weren't many staff around. No one asked us how our meals were. I ended up mixing my potatoes into my pasta, and enjoyed that concoction. The portion sizes were generous.
I would recommend this restaurant to other hotel patrons, or to anyone who wishes to enjoy a more upscale meal in a charming, historic setting.
*Since I was a guest of the hotel, I had access to the dining area later in the week, so I took some extra pictures to add to my review before the restaurant...
Read moreBuilding is old, Victorian-looking. My fiancé and I had a reservation and were sat at a tiny table in front of the dining room. Onion rings were the only option I had for appetizer because I didn’t want seafood. They were fine. Bread was fine. Music began to play behind me. The table in front of me had their phone out, recording the singer directly behind me as I ate. Because our table was so small, I did not have the option to sit facing the music so I wouldn’t be recorded while I ate. My fiancé and I ordered a ribeye, corn casserole, and asparagus to share. The corn casserole was no bigger than the flower used to garnish the plate. He had a bite and I did too. The portion is an ounce? Very little asparagus. We were not told by our server that the sides are unbelievably small and not enough for one person, much less two, and not worth $6. The steak came out well done and chewy. When the server came back by, we were ready to order dessert but she dropped the check instead. I was expecting...
Read moreThe best opportunity that could happen to this beautiful old historic place is NEW OWNERS! Extremely poorly managed! Food was ok, nothing to write home about considering prices (which I gladly pay at some other actual fine dining establishments). Second time we’ve tried this place and the last. We called ahead and made reservations for Friday night on holiday weekend, no problem. We were the only party other than maybe 3 other tables in the entire place. Waited over 15 minutes on drinks (not mixed drinks- simple bourbon & wine for our table. 2 of our party of 4 had their filet entrees served THIRTY MINUTES before the rest of our tables’ food came out! (No explanation, no apologies from management whatsoever) Asked for after dinner coffee and dessert menu- they are “out” of coffee…?! I never go into such detail or time to leave a review but felt the need to in this case…avoid this place at all cost if you want a...
