This is a new place we've been wanting to try out for a while. Friday late afternoon brought a moderate amount of business to this new tavern/restaurant. A couple of picnic tables outside and just what is probably the Covid allowed seating inside. You would think they were following the new protocol rules BUT none of the staff wore masks, none. I'm not a mask fanatic but this is the only place I've been in that didn't follow that rule. Our party of four opted for Draft Beers and a soda. the beer selection is fairly large and reasonably priced. Most of the patrons were enjoying drinks and beers as well. We ordered two Fish Fry Specials and fish sandwich entrees. Chicken Corn Chowder and Chili were both good and well prepared. The Onion Soup two of us had was outstanding, not the best ever but very well executed. French Fries were cold all the way around, and overly salted. The fish fillets were good but standard frozen fillets and nothing special. They were OUT of cole slaw?? The daily special and out of it at 5 pm. The substitute of a side salad was very good but we really wanted cole slaw. (by the time we left they once again were serving cole slaw??) Our server was fantastic! All the staff seemed to be professional and proficient. But, the busboy almost waited for each plate and fork and glass as they were finished, some almost taken before we were done with them. We didn't feel rushed, but that the kitchen had only 12 place settings or something. Food is either fantastic or VERY average. Prices OK. Everyone drinking at the bar and tables seemed happy and loud. Service is on key. Concentrate on the food (let the onion soup chef lead), Turn down the jukebox and wear your masks. Very uneven performance for new addition to the Geauga County...
Read moreA friend of mine was working here and asked me to fill in for just one shift which turned into several. I show up for one of said shifts on my birthday, to several bartenders and the owners wife behind the bar which she does almost always whether it’s busy or not, and includes herself in the splitting of tips which is a MAJOR “no” in this industry. Owners should not be taking tips from their workers. Later that night as the owner snd his wife got more and more drunk, his wife decided she no longer liked me and kicked me out on the spot. Literally out of no where. The friend I was doing the favor for eventually walked out on them several months later due to their chaotic and bipolar mood swings and unprofessional atmosphere. I was only there a few shifts and saw the owner get in physical fights with customers. Employee turnover rate is astronomical for these reasons. I’m assuming the other reviews are friends of theirs because nothing about this place is welcoming or entertaining or even comfortable. Customers that weren’t from the area or weren’t regulars often walked out if not because of the owners obnoxious behaviors, then then the customers that were regularly being over served and out of pocket. The owners wife comes from money, otherwise there’s no way this place would still be running as these people don’t know in the slightest how to run a business professionally nor ethically. Foods ok though lol also, I think you can tell by their responses to reviews what I’m talking about. It’s...
Read moreThis is a great place for good food, fair prices, and a down to earth atmosphere. Nothing too fancy here, but the place is very clean and well decorated. The location is a nice corner store front with lots of windows and good lighting. The parking it convenient and the outside entrance has nice lighting and a well maintained exterior. The owners took real care in the renovation and construction of the layout on the inside where it’s easy to tell that attention to detail matter. I’ve read some mixed reviews of the food online, but in my opinion my meal was wonderful; a classic meatball and a very tasty red sauce. The ingredients were fresh and the food came out hot. The dining tables are custom painted and add some real interest to the main room. There is some soft seating areas and counter seating as well. The restaurant is able to accommodate large groups very well. There is room in the local market for this new restaurant. One can expect Madricks to do very well as the servers stay focused on the genuine charm we experienced with our meal and the kitchen staff continues to create warm authentic classics that can be offered at...
