The food was terrible! I ordered lasagna & my husband had spaghetti and meatballs. My lasagna was basically a baking dish with literally ONE LAYER of under cooked lasagna noodle, a half a spoon full of some kind of ground up meat that had no sauce as next layer, a half a spoon full of ricotta, and I kid you not all of this sitting in a soup of dark red thin sauce that was supposed to have meat in it, but didn't appear to at all, topped with one piece of some type of processed white cheese melted on top...when it came to the table it was so hot it literally took 15 minutes before I could even touch it...then disappointingly found an underwhelming lasagna soup had been presented...worst part is that the taste of all of it from the meat to the noodles to the horrible sauce was totally inedible...worst lasagna hands down ever...need to start over from scratch on that recipe in my opinion. My husband had the same disgusting red sauce on his spaghetti...honestly could have opened up a can of Ragu with better taste...the meatballs were thin slices of some kind of mystery meat that were also totally inedible...for price of dish, honestly, he was expecting full meatballs and not slices...as well as the menu should clearly state what it is serving...maybe this was to cut costs, but resorts in very cheap presentation in the end. Service was understaffed, but adequate considering...however, complained about my meal...obviously didn't eat it and wasn't compensated plus still charged...by the way one of the most expensive Italian meals we've ever had...highly disappointing as was the worst Italian meal ever had!!!! Their whole red sauce and whatever hamburger & meatballs presented is horrible!!! Trying to give a positive...my son had the Alfredo and wished I had ordered that...kinda hard to mess up cream, butter, & cheese...that's if it wasn't out of a jar...but at least was edible as we left very hungry at $80 later for party of 3...so...
Read moreMy recommendation is get some snacks at a gas station and keep driving. You’ll get off cheaper and with less hassle. They appear to cater to tourists passing through and benefit from being one of the only businesses open. Even with that in mind, the waitress’s Southern “charm” and her hope that I have a blessed day and make it home safe was overkill. She forgot the bread that was supposed to come with the food and one of the drinks we ordered. This was with people milling around the kitchen and maybe two other tables in the whole place. The food was OK but overpriced. $13.95 for Sysco’s microwaveable ziti? If you do order a pasta entrée, make sure there’s not a baked/ non-baked option on the menu. We ordered two ziti entrees and apparently there’s a baked version that’s $1 more. The waitress sure didn’t point that out. When we finished, we waited so long for her to come back so we could pay that I went to the front counter to checkout. I asked (just asked!) about the different prices and the woman at the counter kept telling me I ordered the baked ziti, while pointing to it on the menu and repeating herself, louder each time, as if I were slow and hard of hearing. Then she told me that what I ordered was between me and the waitress. This is all over $2!!! I ended up paying the higher price just to leave. It’s not as if I was asking for a freebie, I just wanted to pay for what I thought I ordered. Also, at the prices we paid, I would appreciate not having to share my food. We watched one of the staff pick something off a pizza waiting to go to a table and eat it. Not once, but TWO times. The flies that buzzed around our heads while we tried to eat were delightful as well. I don’t know if the health inspections just don’t happen around here or what. Do yourself a favor and skip the expensive Midwestern NY-style food and...
Read moreAs my mother previously stated on here, we can’t speak for the food, but the owner of this place is absolutely generous! Imagine being three states (600 miles) away from your mother, knowing a massive hurricane blew through her town and wrecked EVERYTHING. She’s not answering texts or calls. You’re looking through photos of the devastation, trying to find any trace of her; a picture of her house, her street, anything! That is what I faced for 2 days. Out of the blue, my mother was able to call me and I was so relieved to hear from her! She told me she had driven an hour to find anywhere that either had service or free Wi-Fi just to be able to let her Florida family know she was okay. She told me that JUST when she was losing hope, she drove up on an italian restaurant. They were closed for the evening, BUT they had free public Wi-Fi and so she was sitting in her car, in the parking lot, making calls to her family. The owner must’ve seen her on his cameras or something, because rightfully so, he was skeptical of a car sitting in the parking lot of his closed restaurant. He arrived and asked her what she was doing. She explained that she was only using his Wi-Fi to make calls to tell her family she was okay, because her town was absolutely devastated and we were left wondering. Upon hearing this, he offered her food, water, ice, ANYTHING she needed. He sent her home with some ice and even told her to come back if she needed anything else. In a time where everything seems gloomy and hope is gone, it is truly a blessing to receive a helping hand like his. I thank him from the bottom of my heart, not only for helping to ease my worries, but also for being so generous...
