YUK - The star rated above is a “fake star” done here just to publish a LESS than ZERO-Stars worthy review... YUK! I have eaten BBQ over 500 times over the last 6 years at many, many dozens of BBQ Pits all over the country - and with that said...there in NO DOUBT that SPRAYBERRY's BBQ is the most tasteless, dried out, nasty meat and worst overall "BBQ" I have EVER tasted at any actual BBQ restaurant anywhere in America. It gets a (-1) out of 10 based primarily on the complete lack of quality, flavor and presentation, but the serious shortcomings don't stop there. This is even worse quality than any institutional level produced BBQ food I can ever remember having sampled... schools, cafeterias, even other roadside fake BBQ's have served me far better tasting food. Get a good (disgusted) laugh and order their "BBQ Chef Salad".... an $11 birdsnest of shredded (Yes, I said a "CHEF" salad - completely made of the same lettuce slivers topping a Burger King Whopper - a handful of SHREDDED cheap, iceberg lettuce with only a dozen tiny dots of diced tomato smaller than your pinky fingernail... AND with NOTHING ELSE at all on their "CHEF's" salad under the cubes of cardboard they claim were pork and beef). By the second bite, I was done. Sickeningly bad. No amount of their bitter and tasteless sauce could "Undry' or "Flavor" either meat... it was THAT Ruined. Servers have been trained to downplay dissatisfaction and problems rather than addressing anything it seemed - but the manager/owner conveyed the same feelings and attitude (neither ever watched the floor nor asked how dinner was going or had been... the two supervisors there were both completely oblivious to unhappy customers and the horrid food coming out of the kitchen at Dinner time on a weekday.... that explained alot about how this place became so awful. Customers pay for cold cardboard cubes (which Sprayberry's calls Beef & Pork) so they can deal with the depressed, unconcerned business owners/managers... Then there was the "Onion Rings" - a plate of cold stinking grease dripping chips scattered over a small plate - no onion... no rings... seriously their $6 or $7 (?) small onion rings order comes out cold without ONE SINGLE actual Onion "Ring" in the inedible pile of grease soaked disgusting flour chips... I want to throw up again just thinking about it... DISGUSTING! The ONLY reason this place is still in business has to be the interstate location leaving Atlanta on I-85 south because they stand alone as the worst I have ever experienced and would never even consider returning to this trash hole excuse of a BBQ. Holy Toledo - I almost forgot... LMAO! - the entire restaurant dining area is saturated in Ammonia (possibly Windex spray soaked on every table, seat, booth, floor, air freshener, I don't know what else because I have never been exposed to such ridiculous concentrations) and is so overwhelming that if you try to eat there it will be in every mouthful of everything you eat. This is insane (as a former restaurant manager and safety trainer) they should know that Ammonia is irritating and corrosive. All customers exposed to such high concentrations of ammonia in the air causes immediate burning of the nose, throat and respiratory tract. This can cause edema, and airway destruction resulting in respiratory distress or failure. Even inhalation of lower concentrations can cause coughing, and nose and throat irritation. Ammonia's odor provides adequate early warning of its presence, but ammonia also causes olfactory fatigue or adaptation, reducing awareness of prolonged exposure to the manager and crew there it seems. Unsafe and sickening conditions there - on top of being the worst ever BBQ anywhere make this a place to avoid...
Read moreI think it's because I'm from Tennessee and I just have a different flavor palette when it comes to food, I wouldn't say this is in my top places to eat. I could see being a regular if you lived around there and seeing folks from there, but I would find it hard to believe people would come far and wide to try this.
I actually had to call my Dad to discuss the matter of how disappointed I was in the flavor, the service and just the whole experience.
I'm giving three stars and being polite about how I feel because I was reminded not everybody knows how to cook GOOD BBQ and that other areas/states have different ways of eating things. With that being said I hope any of you reading this will not base your love of BBQ off this establishment and instead wait till you try some West Tennessee BBQ meat and homemade BBQ sauce. Your palette will have a whole other experience of flavor.
Again, I think it's because of where I'm from that I wasn't the biggest fan. Even with that being said, I did support the business by buying a coffee mug and sticker.
Don't dislike me too much, pictures in comments.
I wish the...
Read moreNormally I only review the restaurants that go over and beyond paired with great food, but this one stood out..
With my wife being out of town, I was about to go to a Steakhouse and order ribs but decided to go here since they “specialize” in BBQ. This was my first ever visit to this location.
I was served the worst ribs that I have ever tasted. I smoke a lot of ribs and to avoid embarrassment, these would be the ones that would have ended up in the trash before I allowed anyone to eat them.
The young man that was my waiter, asked how everything was and I told him “These are the worst ribs that I have ever tasted”. He replied, “Sorry about that”….
Maybe it was a different cook or maybe it was too close to closing time. I would have thought someone would have at least asked if I wanted something else but no one said a word. $34.00 later for one person to eat, got home as hungry as I was before I left to go out to eat.
Lesson learned on where not...
