Weekend at Hill's with friends. Reservation for dinner & drinks at Millie's to watch our beloved Zags beat St Mary's. Spoiler Alert: They did đ Food was (mostly) delish & excellent. Fish&Chips, Caesar Salad, Prime Rib Sub Special were all excellent. The spicy Asian Salmon bowl had good stuff, but our gal wasn't liking the spice & after she traded it for her hubby's fish&chips, I who likes spice, had to agree. Sesame crusted salmon was ok, but no special yummy flavors= a no. Three piece fish & chips, not my fav, but decent fish, good batter ( crispy not greasy & good adherence to the fish)= yes. Ceasar salad shared by two people w/o meat, split in the kitchen, was more than enough & looked good on the plates= yes My prime rib sammy with mushrooms, cheese & (not) so caramelized onions on a hoagie fed me twice= yes but... those onions did not have that slightly sweet (CARMELized) yummiest I was hoping for. Bacon Mac n Cheese egg rolls were tasty but tiny for their $12 app price. Our server was friendly & efficient. I had a 9oz house red wine which sustained me through the game. $10 for my wine & the young man kept my water glass full= plus points, but I hate ketchup & asked for a large mayo. Server said, "Two sides of mayo?" Sure said I & paid $1 for two little dabs of mayo & yep... I know... mayo = eggs = money, But $1 for four tbsp* (generous description) = no. He should have let me know there would be a charge- these days there often is. $16 for a prime rib sammy is reasonable, but $1 for mayo is not- I would have said yes anyway, just please let me know Overall- Millie's was loud but served decent food at a decent price with decent...
Read moreMillie, the ol timey gal of namesake, took care of loggers and miners that flooded this region a hunnert years gone by. And by "took care" I mean the entirety of the human endeavor in camps filled with mostly lonely, hard-laboring fellas, if you catch my drift.
Or so the oral tradition goes. Pure speculation and conjuncture perhaps.
But, Millie's, the Roadhouse on highway 57, Priest Lake, Idaho, just reopened in the capable hands of a fresh crew of talent that understand the ebb and flow of these creeks, rivers and lakes and the parched and famished folks which flok here season after for their own fine reasons.
Down to the hours when the masses will flow from fireworks on the north end of the Lake towards Millie's, the spot is again The Spot for locals, trippers, seasonal arbeiters and the best in food and beverage service in the gorgeous middle of nowhere North Idaho.
Swing by and upload them pics from the Cabin, the Boat, the Quad, the Bike on the gratis WiFi and feel welcome. And then get back to exploring around Priest Lake Idaho and the back...
Read moreWe've come here a few times over the past few years. Each time we came it was a different experience depending on who was working. There are certain servers that are ok and then there are servers that are impressive. The one that always stands out is Stephanie. She is wonderful. Her tableside attitude is always upbeat, our order is always correct and we never have to wait for refills. It seems when she is working the place runs efficient compared to when she is not. If they ever lose her it won't be the same. When we come to have a couple of drinks and sit at the bar the one bartender that is excellent is Chase. The place has indoor and outdoor seating. Live music at times. Food is a hit and a miss. Again it depends on who is working. I don't care how good or mediocre a place is if the people you deal with face-to-face aren't excellent you're not going to have a good time and possibly not come back. If they are great then we will come back. I'm not going to go out and spend my hard earned money somewhere where I'm not getting...
