Simpl Cafe — Restaurant in Newport

So hey folks, I just gotta say this me and my wife visited the simple café when they reopened after the flood. There was a couple that ordered before us two burgers. There was another group 2 guys motorcyclist that were in front of us and their first time there and our first time there they didn’t know what to order so they told us to go ahead. We knew we wanted to try the burgers so we ordered two burgers and told the young lady Who is at the cash register at the time we would be sitting out on the back patio my wife gets 45 minutes for lunch and she works downtown at a law firm and after we ordered, we went to the back patio with our two iced teas and 40 minutes later. Still no food. My wife got up and went in to find out what was going on the couple that had ordered the two burgers in front of us. They were sitting near the back door and they had their burgers and fries and the two gentleman that told us to go ahead so we ordered before them. My wife noticed they were eating their burgers so when she complained the lady at the register which was a different person now Started arguing with my wife then a little chunky woman blonde short blonde hair came from the kitchen and started mouthing off at my wife said that your burgers are almost ready. Our burgers were ordered 40 minutes earlier and why 40 minutes later are they almost ready when people after us clearly we’re already eaten so we asked for our money back they gave us the money back that we spent for the burgers, but they had the nerve and the audacity to charge for the two iced teas so we won’t be back. I just felt compelled to go ahead and write this even though this was months ago, but they had issues and it was not corrected the proper way me and my wife both worked in restaurants for years so we know what the deal is so the one star is for the atmosphere Other than that I have nothing else to say except for we won’t be back. You just don’t treat people that way and then expect them to come back. We don’t work that way sorry I hope you all do well in business though this town could use it if we would’ve got our food I would’ve posted...

We were heading to Starbucks across the way when I saw this little cafe. I love supporting small coffee shops. I ordered my favorite coffee, which is a Cortado. Normally, it is bitter and unflavoreful, so i need to add sugar. I was pleasantly surprised to have a sip of their cortado, and it tasted naturally sweet and creamy with a hint of chocolate on the aftertaste. Phenomenal! I am a coffee snob, so yeah, it is THAT GOOD! Now, let's discuss food... I ordered the chorizo tacos and my husband got the vegan Burrito and added chicken. Wow. The amount of food for the cost is perfect. We were a little nervous about the price tag and expected small portions. Those tacos came out and my jaw dropped. The tacos were normal but delicious corn tortilla tacos filled to the edges. I could barely close them up! 1.5 and I was full! My husband's Burrito was fat! Filled to its maximum capacity and he could only eat half of it. The potatoes inside were that perfect crisp and tender kind. Oh man the food was great! The owner, I think he was the owner. Was very welcoming and you can tell this is a passion for him. Chatting with him was like chatting with an old friend. I look forward to come back and see you succeed! Update/second review: I'm already back for a second time and just as pleased as I was two weeks ago. This time I came solo and tried the double bacon BLT made with Benton's bacon. Locally sourced ingredients and delicious. Yum yum yum! This time I remembered and took a photo before I ate it.

First review: Wow!!! I took my daughter for lunch today and I can't wait to go back. Sitting on the patio by the river eating locally sourced, fresh, and deliciously prepared food was the best! The staff is super friendly, the menu all looks amazing, and both of our meals were fantastic. I had the brunch burger and my daughter had the chicken avocado wrap, both came with home fries. Newport needed this place!! We will become regulars and try to take all our friends there.
