The Angry Possum — Restaurant in Newport

When they said angry possum I didn’t realize I would be the possum. When ordering their specialty you have to ask for each individual topping stated on the menu- all the way down to the lettuce 🥬 👎. I don’t know if I was just out of the loop or if it wasn’t common knowledge that when you order a burger everything it say that it will have WILL be in the burger NOT JUST a patty and a slice of cheese. The singular server that was working was nice and by the looks of it hardworking, nonetheless her doing her job does not excuse the fact that it took an HOUR AND A HALF and $80 to get the most mediocre meal of my life. Not to mention the amount of old creepy men AND women there.

UPDATE: I understand that there was a “build your own burger” on the menu but that wasn’t what I ordered ?? Is EVERYthing in there build your own ? If not it seams like it would be ideal to have your serve state that upon ordering, unlike you I can take responsibility when I’m in the wrong so it might of been by fault that I didn’t order the NOT build your own. However, when I pointed out the guest it wasn’t directed towards you (the owner) it was for anyone who doesn’t want to feel uncomfortable while waiting for their meal- I don’t say this to be rude but being a female and having a table full of old men stare at you and make disgusting gestures to you while you sit and wait patiently ISN’T the most appetizing thing..I understand that you don’t have control over who comes in or out but it’s just a warning to those who are passing through and want to grab a bite. I could have opened packages and cans at home and warmed them up and had better tasting food. The food either had no taste or bad taste. I would not give the meat to my dogs. The beans were definately out of a can. The food took a long time to get to my family and all of it was cold once we did get it. A man brought in a casserole dish of some type of food while we were there, sat down and ate some of it, and instructed another person to do so as well, before it all had to be served. I think it was the mac n' cheese which had no taste. The service took a long time, including an excruciating amount of time to get our check. The meal was over $67.00 and not even 1/5 of it was eaten as it was so bad. I can guess why the possums...

I’ve eaten here quite a few times in the last year and I have to say that for the most part the food is good. The only issues I have is that the water seems to taste like bleach every single time so the last time I decided to get a soda which had the same strange taste. Hard to eat a meal with nothing to drink. It is kinda crazy that you pay 7 dollars for a small bowl of canned chilli when you can get one at the store for a couple bucks.
