The Hungry RoadThe Hungry Road
(Last visited August 6, 2023.) In the Wingaddicts Facebook group I kept seeing posts about some place called Station 25 that had HUGE, delectable, powerfully flavored wings so... we made the hour drive to Newtown, CT to see what this place is all about! Atmosphere/Appearance: Set out the way and right off Route 25 is this gem which is dedicated to the firefighters all over the country. Mark (the owner) is a volunteer firefighter himself so thank you for your service my good man. But the restaurant is large with a large outdoor seating area filled with umbrellas to block the sun or the rain if you're outside! Once inside you feel welcomed due to it's open concept, bright lights and upbeat music. The staff greet you as soon as you enter so that's always a plus. All over the restaurant you'll see New York Giants memorabilia as well as stuff dedicated to firefighters including a memorial table toward the back. I loved this. Service: Like I mentioned before the staff are super friendly and on multiple visits the owners Laurene and Mark chatted us up just making sure we were well taken care of! Food: We've been here multiple times so I've been able to try out a few things! The first of 6 wing flavors were the Lemon Pepper Buffalo which were fried to perfection with a nice crisp skin from the light dredge on them. It was a 50/50 marriage on the flavor between a lemon and Buffalo sauce. It was so well executed! Next up was the Honey Hot Tamale which blended Mexican spices with a sweet-nectar like sweetness. It also came served with pickled hot peppers, but the wings had a good spicy kick to them! Again, still crispy and a huge size. Next up was their Garlic Parmesan which was a mixture of wet and dry ingredients. Crispy skin and FULL of flavor. With many of these kinds of wings at other places, the flavor comes off so light, but these hit the nail on the head! Next up was the Asian Zing. Gorgeous, shiny wing with crispy skin, but this one had a sweet Thai chili flavor with some Szechuan pepper flavor, but it had more sweet than spicy. 2nd to last is their off-menu flavor called Cherry Pepper Gorgonzola! It's a MESSY wing, but OMG. This comes SLATHERED in a acidic, creamy, natural cheese flavor then covered with cherry peppers and spices. It tasted like a good pasta dish, but with wings! Lastly, we tried the hottest wing on the menu... the 911. Lol. These came out lookin' gritty, nasty and like they're supposed to when they're supposed to be stupid hot. Lol. These were still delicious and presented no immediate heat, but then boom. The heat ramped up and kicked in HARD. These were nothing I couldn't handle though, but super hot and topped out at about an 8.3 on the Weavi Heat Scale. Value: Come in on Wednesdays for $1.00 wings! You can't beat it! Other than that, the prices are extremely reasonable for excellent quality food. In conclusion, I love this place and I wish it were closer so that I could frequent it more often, but that's nobody's fault but my own! Lol. They may be seeing me pretty soon...

My husband and I ate dinner here tonight. Ordered the bacon cheddar ranch fries- delicious!!! My husband got honey hot tamale wings and I got lemon buffalo. Both were excellent! My husband says it’s the best wings he’s had in a long time. The wings are a good size, lightly breaded and full of flavor. (You can get them without breading too). Wednesday’s are half price wings… a great deal! Our waitress was very personable and on top of everything- excellent service! She is part of the reason we’ll go back (besides the delicious food). Looking forward to next time!!!

I had such high hopes for this place since I heard from friends how great the wings were. I got the garlic parm wings and they had great flavor on the outside, but the meat was tasteless. I asked for my burger medium well and it was quite undercooked, but outside was charred way too much. I took a few bites and was not happy with the taste. Onion rings were incredibly greasy. I wanted so badly to like this place ): On the plus side the staff was friendly and the atmosphere was really nice. I’d definitely go back for drinks, the food, probably not.

Acting on the strong recommendation of a friend who lives in Newtown, I decided to drive the 25 minutes from my home to purchase take-out from Station 25 for my wife and myself. So glad I did! My buddy raved about their Chicken Scarpariello Entree, as well as their Starter offering of Fried Brussels Sprouts. That's exactly what I ordered, as well as a Gorgonzola Cheeseburger for my wife. When I walked into the restaurant a few minutes earlier than my pick-up time, I was immediately greeted by a very cordial server, who offered to check me out while I waited for my order. Another friendly server was in the process of packaging my food from the open cooking area, so I was able to talk with both of them while they worked. When I remarked how wonderful the restaurant smelled, their enthusiasm for the quality of their food was genuinely evident. I received such a good vibe from this restaurant that I was reassured it was worth the 25-minute drive past many other potential restaurants to come to this place. Once I arrived back home and we tasted the food, I knew my buddy had not steered me wrong. I don't really like Brussells Sprouts, but their recipe of frying them in truffle oil with bacon, cranberries, and cheese results in a delicious Starter. My entree of Chicken Scarpariello was to die for! The Gorgonzola Cheeseburger was described by my wife as the best cheeseburger she has had since her all-time favorite she enjoyed in Vermont about twenty years ago! A 25-minute drive to Newtown sure beats the heck out of a 4-hour trip to Vermont when you're hungry! Station 25 Restaurant is the real deal! I'm so happy I have friends with...
