JD's Kitchen — Restaurant in Nolanville

We finally made it into JD's Kitchen. The most important thing to share with you is that this is a great place to pick up food before heading home or picking up for an event so you will not see tables for seating. The staff were kind and amiable...very helpful as we navigated the menu.

There are a lot of things on the menu that I will have to go back for (they recently introduced wings.) We went for a grilled chicken bacon sandwich meal and the spicy chicken bacon sandwich meal. The fries are battered (we loved them) but it is good to know in advance and there are several other sides on the menu. My wife loved hers. For me, the cutlet was a little thin and didn't have the kick I was hoping for (I love heat) but it was still a good meal.

I expect to raise this rating on the next visit as we think about the burgers, the chicken fried steak sandwich, salads, wings and tenders to try in the future. I now know why we always...

We decided to try them out for lunch. It’s takeout only. When you walk in you’re greeted by a friendly employee. They do have a place where you can sit and wait for your food.

The food is made fresh to order. When we got our order it was fresh and hot. We had: Fried Catfish with Slaw and Hushpuppies.

Double Cheeseburger with Fries!

Chicken Fried Steak with Mashed Potatoes and Gravy!

Catfish was crispy and tender. The coleslaw was good but nothing special. The hushpuppies were really good.

Cheeseburger was juicy and flavorful. Fries were crispy and good.

Chicken Fried Steak was hand breaded and tender. Mashed Potatoes were served with brown gravy.

Overall it was a good experience. We look forward to visiting again to try other items on their menu.

3/5 stars Major disappointment at Jd's! My family and I have been loyal customers since they first opened, hitting up their spot every Friday and occasionally on weekends for a cheat meal. Lately, though, things have gone downhill fast. Today's order was soggy - chicken strips and fries lacked any crunch. Adding insult to injury, portions have shrunk, especially the fries. We're talking almost no fries in the box, which is a big letdown for the price. This marks three recent orders falling short of expectations. Used to love their food, but until they sort out quality and portion issues, we'll be dining elsewhere.

Fortunately, took picture too late to show the amount of fried and sogginess. I had to throw away the rest making...
