East Beach Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Norfolk

This Bar & Grill is reminiscent of the "old" Ocean View back when I used to live there. It has the laid back easy going charm of yesterday. For now COVID-19 has prevented the ability to sit at the bar. There is still plenty of seating at tables along with the side covered porch with picnic table seating. For those in wheelchairs you'll need to enter from the left side of the building. Also for wheelchairs in order to use the restroom one needs to exit then roll around to the front entrance (I did not try out the restroom on this outing). That's because when one enters through the front there are steps to get into the main part of the Bar & Grill. My wife & I enjoyed beer & fried chicken fingers. Since we arrived at 2:45pm (that's 1445 for you military folks) it was before the regular opening, the bar tender generously cooked us up some chicken tenders. Next time we'll arrive a bit later so we can enjoy a meal as well. Designated accessible parking is not identified & the lot is not paved. For my accessible van, with a side entrance, this posed a challenge if I was to go by myself. Fortunately my wife could reposition the van, in the event someone parked next to the side entrance. There are also billiard tables to enjoy a game with your favorite beverage. Also there are several large screen TV's for watching a show...

Good folks though bar in front non-smoking is really nice! With all due respect, I attempted to speak to Wendy the owner on three separate occasions regarding some questions I had and also to plan an event. One of the times she did mention that she was too busy I understand that. However, with that being said, I respectfully wished that I hadn't posted such a degrading review. Therefore I only wished that I could be reconsidered for patroning this establishment. Some of friends that continue to frequent there are wondering what ever happened to me and that they do not see me anymore. Looking forward to a positive response from the owner. I have never caused any drama in this establishment or been rude to a bartender let alone anyone else that is there. In my defense I have never been a difficult customer. When I walk into an establishment that I frequent and you know my drink, it's nice to know and see a friendly face and the bartender confirm it with a smiling face. Went here to grab a few drinks and late night quick food. The bar allows smoking inside? Felt like I was in the 70’s. My hair, clothes and personal belongings smelled like smoke when I left. The local patrons were very obviously not thrilled to see non-locals here. They stared and followed us with their eyes the whole time. We weren’t greeted and when I went to the bar to ask about ordering anything the bartender was less than accommodating. Seemed like she was feeling like she wanted us to leave so we did! No one was wearing masks not even the staff (the one bartender). Hours also said they were open until 12 other places said 2, bartender said 10. Then we drove by at 11 and cars were in the parking lot so I’m pretty sure they lied to get us to leave cause we arrived at 9:18.
