Waffle House — Restaurant in Norfolk

For starters the restaurant appeared to be in a much better shape than any other waffle house I've previously visited (don't judge a book by its cover or a waffle house by its appearance). We seated ourselves and patiently waited to be served. Our server arrived, thanked us for our patience and took our order. I simplified it for her and ordered 3 all stars, cheese in each grits, scrambled eggs and bacon for all. Additionally I asked for a smothered and covered on the side and one waffle with chocolate chips. Our drinks arrived and we were told, sorry we ran out of straws but we'll have some tomorrow. My coffee mug was disgustingly dirty inside and out. We were never offered a refill on any drinks and received warm almost cold food. The food arrived, the grits were cold, greasy and tasted two days old. The eggs were runny and cooked in loads of oil. The waffles... one over cooked, one without the requested chocolate chips and all 3 appeared to be mini waffles. I asked her about the size and was told that's the normal size and she did offer to remake it (no thank you, all 3 look the same). The toast and bacon was good and my kids enjoyed the oj and chocolate chip waffle but hated EVERYTHING else. We decided it was time to leave, I asked for a to go container and syrup for my well done waffle and for a coffee to go. We patiently waited over 10 minutes, I started this review and then she returned and offered me what I had already requested. She returned with a small cup of coffee and appeared to be aggravated that I then asked for a large cup.. I will NEVER return to this location NEVER! They ruined my great brunch experience but will never have an opportunity to do it again. Save your time and money... find a different location. I've received better service and much better food at every waffle house visited...

As soon as I walked in I was greeted by a lovely woman, Q, at the counter, where I sat. Although swamped with To-Go orders, my waitress, Lindsey, was super courteous and kept checking in with me while I was waiting for my food to be made and even filled my coffee in the interim. Very attentive. Even Q came back and suggested a way to habe my waffle more "buttery" when ordering for my next visit, having watched me spread butter on my waffle. The cooking staff, or the two women who were putting the orders together, seemed stressed and anxious. Maybe just an off day but you could sense tension. Otherwise a great experience. Definitely would, and will, come again.

EDIT: This review was done a year ago, most likely when the previous manager was running it and very successfully I might add. Since then the quality of service, the attentiveness of the staff, and care for the customers has GREATLY declined. This used to be my favorite location to come to and would even rave about it to friends. Not anymore. I will be taking my business to another location because it is obvious the customer does not come first here. At my most recent visit, there was only one staff member on duty and the cook. She took 15 minutes just to take our order, I will give her points for greeting us. Our drinks came out with our food almost 30 minutes later. I have never, in my life, been to a restaurant where the drinks are brought out at the same time as the food. The waitress could barely even remember our order and I had to remind her every step of the way. Again, will not be...

Will not go back. Customer service was beyond slow. Waited for booth to open approximately 5minutes. No problem. Waiting for the booth to be cleared and cleaned. Problem. 3 workers went passed the booth several times. Did nothing. When asked to get the booth. Was told the people just left. Wrong answer. The people paid and drove away been gone and another party came and tried to get our booth. Which y'all still have not cleared the food and dishes from. Unsatisfactory. So after all of that is finally over. I get the 2 chicken breast dinner. It comes with salad. I get the Balsamic vinaigrette dressing. Why I put it on the salad and it was creamy and brown. That is definitely not right. I looked at the expiration date. 041418. SERIOUSLY!!!! Goodness.NOOO. So they took it off the bill. I asked for cheese and mushrooms on my chicken. Got it on one. Hash browns were perfect for someone who didn't have teeth. Had to ask a different waitress for my water refill. Our actual waitress asked if we wanted our mushrooms cooked longer. We said no we were fine she tells another waitress right in front of us and the waitress comes and ask us if we want our mushrooms cooked longer. Dude like we are going to tell you different. NO NOT HAPPENING. I will not be going back to the Waffle House on Princess Anne Road...
