EXTREMELY disappointed in this location... Lots to this story, and some of it our fault I'll admit, but the "Operations Manager" at this location was completely out of line. His name is MARK.
A group of four of us booked a Groupon, which turned out to be a pretty good deal. Now, I know it's generally not okay to bring your own beer on to a course for numerous reasons, but here was our circumstance....... We had a few beers in our bags from the previous weeks round of golf. Beacon Rock did not offer a cart service at the time we were playing in the late afternoon, so we drank the beers we had in our bag when we ran out of the ones we purchased from them. We were turning in the carts before the end of our 18 holes because they wanted the carts in by 7pm, which is no problem, they didn't mention that when we booked it, but we don't mind walking the last bit.
THIS IS WHERE THINGS GOT REAL INTERESTING.... Mark Mayfield, noticed me recycling some cans that he knew weren't ones they sold there. I used the bathroom, and when I came out he approached me with one of the cans he fished out of the bin asking if it was mine. I didn't lie about it, I told him yes, they were mine, and apologized trying to explain I also bought several beers from them, and that we ran out in the midst of our game so we drank those as well. Thinking I'd get a warning or a notice of breaking the rules or even someone that could comprehend what I was saying, Mark began cursing at me asking me if I was "fing stupid, you guys are fing aholes, and you're breaking the fing law!! I'm going to get your license plate and turn you pieces of s* in!!". NO JOKE, I was dumbfounded, and asked him if he worked there. At this point I realized he had clearly been drinking himself, and felt genuinely nervous this was going to escalate to physical violence. He was screaming, using profanity so loud and belligerently it alerted my friends I was golfing with and other golfers on the course. The other gal working there was distraught too, asking Mark to please calm down and that she was "just going to call the cops" which I felt was more for his sake, than our few beers we brought on the course. At this point, I just wanted to get away from this guy, so I sincerely apologized and said we'd leave, not even finishing the last 7 holes. That's when he took the cans I recycled out of the bin and threw them at my friend and me hard hitting us in the mid section and legs while screaming "you can taking your f**ing cans with you too!!". Completely appalled we gathered our things and began to leave when he continued to stand in front of us mean mugging each of my friends as we walked out to the car. Seriously, this guy is nuts. I mean yeah, we shouldn't of had beers on the course, I'll admit to that, but to resort to physical and verbal assault over it? Not to mention he had clearly been drinking and decided this would be a good time to address the matter with us... I could see getting really upset with us had we been disrespectful in other ways, or had not bought any beers from them at all, but between us we purchased 8 of them, and probably would've bought more had he not freaked out like a crazy person.
Congratulations Mark, by your obscene behavior, you just lost my business indefinitely and everyone I know. I just shared this story with my co-workers and we all had a good laugh at your expense, because it was such a ludicrous thing to do when running a business. It's so crazy, you know I'll bring it up to anyone I golf with as well. You also may want to consider joining AA and an anger management group! Hope it was...
Read moreIf I could give less than one star, I would. My husband and I stopped here the other day to take a look at the course. He's been an avid golfer for over 60 years; I'm not. Unfortunately, he was recently injured and has a patch over one eye. He went in to the use the bathroom and was screamed at by the cook and guy at the counter. Seriously?! Apparently, there are signs in the restaurant section that say the restrooms are for customers only. My husband could not see those signs due to his injury, and was given a "lecture" about how much they have to pay for the sewer and toilet paper. He no longer carries a wallet since he doesn't drive, so could not offer them money to use their facilities ~ after the fact. I didn't learn about this until we were some ways away, or I would have gone back and yelled at them. Note to staff and management: You can be rude and crude, but that doesn't bring in customers. Shame on you for being such idiots. I might return just to yell...
Read moreHorrible management, MAKE SURE YOU READ ALL OF THIS. Paid for 18 holes only to find out after getting thru 9 that the 18 holes is repeating same 9 again. Pro Shop never said anything about that when he asked 18 or 9 when I paid for 18.Returned to ask for rain check but wouldn't give ,mentioned to him was poor business practice to have someone pay for 18 and not tell them its repeating same 9 twice and no rain check to return on 9.Total paid for 18 holes and driving range plus cart $90.Driving range is a joke no identification for range or distance as well as if you blink you have past the tattered carpets you tee from. Pro shop has no water in bathrooms. You have to fill toilet after you flush with a pitcher and water from trash can that is next to toilet. Then wash and from water jug propped up on sink. I wouldn't recommend my worst enemy to play here if not for out lying mountain location this place...
