This review is 100% factual. We went to Almost On The Lake a couple of months ago and dined inside. I ordered Texas toast with my meal. There was no bread when the server brought the plate out. No biggie. I politely reminded her that I was supposed to get bread. She apologized and said she would get it right out. I waited for a few minutes before starting myeal but after a fee minutes I went ahead and started. Thinking the bread will be out any second now. The waitress came by the table several times but no bread. I finished my entire meal and she eventually brought the bread WITH THE CHECK and did not mention a word about it. The waitress was very young and from my opinion, inexperienced. I did something I rarely do. No tip. Fast forward to late April 2022. We decided to call in an order. We were told 20 to 25 minutes. I got there right about the 20 minute mark. The girl running the front told me it was not ready so I waited. After at least 15 minutes, she told me they were waiting for the Texas toast to finish. So I waited for another 10 minutes or so before finally getting my order. We live less than 5 minutes away. The food was so cold it had to be put in the microwave to heat up. But what about the Texas toast? It was nice and hot, right? I don't know. I got a soft roll instead. NO TEXAS TOAST! From when we called in the order and when I walked out the door the with the food, it took 54 minutes. 54 MINUTES! We got cold food and no toast even though that's what supposedly held the order up for so long. Its shame really because this would be a great place for a restaurant. If you go to Almost On The Lake, you won't see me there but I will wish you good luck....
Read moreHeard this was a good place so went to try it out. Honestly it was the single most terrible restaurant I've been to in the county no lie! Seven dollar deep fried mushrooms were borderline burnt and so we're the fries Wich were the cheap two dollar a bag Walmart string fries. I ordered country fried chicken and to my dismay they had the nerve to bring out four store bought breaded chicken tenders on some gravy. Just call it what it is 'chicken tenders on gravy, don't lie and say it's country fried chicken be straight up. They did bring us out sauces but they were so gross 🤢 didn't even use the sauces. I mean how can you get sauces wrong? My wife ordered a sandwich and it was a little meat on sliced bread 'a joke' we were both very disappointed when we told them about the burned fries and mushrooms, they couldn't care less and said you gotta send it back but when has time to wait around. Not even a two dollar discount was given just nothing at all. I try not to be too hard on resteraunts but they clearly are just out to make a buck and don't care about the customer or the quality of there food. They don't even serve what the menu said it was, I mean everyone knows country fried chicken is a properly breaded and fried chicken breast and at $9 dollars I think they could pull it off the right way. Our bill was $28 and fast food would have been much better than this place. And prices go up from the $9 special pretty much. Was nothing special about it at all. I'm giving a one star rating because it's the worst food in the county to my knowledge and I am making ppl aware so they don't go out of their way to be given a experience similar...
Read moreThere were not many restaurants in Moravian Falls area and the one that we originally wanted to eat wasn’t open for dinner earlier. So we went to google map to show us the nearest dinner place and we found Almost on The Lake restaurant. Majority of food that we ordered were fried but they also serve sandwiches, burgers, salad, etc. Our server was an attentive teenager and very friendly. Always made sure we had what we need and made sure dinner were okay. We started with fried pickle as our appetizer and boy oh boy, its like they poured salt on those fried pickle. The ranch dipping sauce really help tone down the saltiness tho. The fried flounder and southwest fried mahi-mahi were good and had a good batter consistency to it. The fried okra and onion rings were good especially the ring onion it was sweet onion in the inside and great fried batter. I had fried squash as one of my side and it was kinda weird to my taste since it’s crunchy on the outside but soggy wet squash in the inside. The fried okra and hush puppies were good and I recommend them along with the onion rings. Our children had fries on the side and they were soggy which is weird since with everything being fried the fries was a big disappointment. The cheese quesadilla was okay, the salmon need seasoning (salt and pepper). The portion were generous and my MIL and husband really enjoyed their peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream. I think the food deserve 3 and 1/2 stars which is pretty average but the service was good. So overall I give them 4 stars food and...
