Cindy's Kitchen — Restaurant in North Carolina

When I found out that Cindy actually sold her baked goods and meals at a Citgo Convenience Store, I was a little reticent about checking this place out, but all of the positive reviews I was reading on Facebook, as well as the pictures of various foods she was making, was too hard to resist. We had recently moved to Moyock, NC, therefore, we were in search of local favorites, and this place was the top of the list for good eats.

My wife and I pulled up at Citgo and entered the store and holy chocolate cake...I felt like a kid in a candy store! The shelves were filled with cakes (by the slice, half of a cake or whole), muffins, cupcakes, brownies, scones, cookies, breakfast sandwiches, etc. and the refrigerator was filled with sandwiches, salads and casseroles. Everything I've had there has been amazing! I am more than happy to drive 20 mins for a 12 layer chocolate cake! Everything Cindy and her Mom make is homemade and delicious! I've tasted several of her baked goods and sandwiches (chicken salad, tuna salad...even PB & J) and I've like everything! I've introduced Cindy's to several other people and they've thanked me for turning them onto this gem!

They always say "Don't Judge a Book By Its Cover" and this local diamond in the rough, definitely falls into this category. My car automatically turns into this place every time I'm in the area (fortunately for my waist, I only go about once every couple of months...but when I go, I don't come home with less than 6 or so various items....and always a slice or HALF of the 12 Layer Chocolate Cake!) Great place to stop on the way down to OBX! Big selection of homemade treats to pick from. They have a famous 12 layer cake which is always fun to get for the family. A full cake is quite expensive at $45. Also the cake we got was a little bit dry - not sure how long they are sitting out there for, it would be helpful for them to have dates to pick a fresh one. I've been going to Kevin's since I was a little boy. My son just had his 10th birthday and wanted Cindy's biscuits for breakfast! Now that I own my own small business, I can think of all the ups and downs this business has endured with all the change in the county the last 20 years. We support local and will keep supporting local! Thanks for a great home felt staple in...
