Haven't been here in many years so figured we'd give it a try again since someone at work mentioned it and it sounded good. 4 of us got our food and everything was correct as ordered and the portions were pretty good for all but the walnut shrimp and it was small in my opinion. The food was decent, but nothing to write home about if you know what I mean. The rice had very little flavor and the wonton in the wonton soup was mushy and slimy unlike normal restaurants. My orange chicken had pretty good flavor, but had way too much batter on it making it mushy as well and not very appetizing. The hot and sour soup was good, but the crunchy noodles were almost stale and had a funny taste to them. My wife liked the lo mein and I tasted it and agreed it was pretty good, but we've definitely had better. Another person had hibachi chicken and one had shrimp and both were just decent as well with not a lot of flavor. Overall I ate my food, but my stomach has been torn up ever since eating it and I'm not sure if it was mushy wonton or what, but this will be the last time eating here for a long time again if ever. Peking downtown Statesville is better if that tells you...
Read moreStatesville is blessed with a plethora of Chinese restaurants, even though none deliver. Grow Green is by far one of the greatest of these restaurants. I like to test things out with restaurants by ordering "not normal meals", I ordered a large wonton soup, house special fried rice with extra shrimp, an eggroll, and a shrimp roll. The portion sizes are enough to feed 3-4 people, and the taste is superb. This was the first of many visits I plan on making. I'm a very picky eater when it comes to Chinese restaurants but this has definitely made my top 5 in my lifetime so far. The restaurant itself reminds me of most of the Chinese restaurants up north, it's more of a pick up counter than it is a restaurant but they make very good use of the space. They've even got handmade jewelry for sale and if I had a few extra bucks, there's a pair of daisy earrings that looked absolutely beautiful. Thank you very much to the people who work for and...
Read moreMy family and I love a good Chinese food dinner when we can splurge a little on money. Grow green used to be so good. But the last TWO TIMES I've ordered online, they've charged my credit card but the order says declined on their website. When we ask them about, they tried to put it on it being my banks fault, but it's definitely not. The first time, it took over TWO weeks to get my money refunded, and I still had to pay for the meal again. The second time, I hit pay with CASH but it STILL charged my card again but said declined on their site. It's absurd. When you talk to the employee about it they shurg their shoulders and say it will get put back on. But WHY!? Why take people's money!!! I'm furious to say the least. DO not order online. The food is good sometimes. But never worth paying...
