On Sept. 26 my friends (Doug & Vickie) took me to lunch at Twisted Spoke. It was their second time eating there and they were insistent I had to try it. They were not busy that day and it was nice outside so we took a table on the screened-in patio...what a spectacular view, in fact most of the tables offered great views thanks to the large window configuration. I focus on this because with fall rolling in, the view alone is worth eating here. Even better, the service was super...a responsive cheerful waitress and even the owner stopped by and chatted at the end. This is a wife & husband (Mike & Tammy) team operation that knows exactly what they doing. Now to the food. At first I thought the menu was a little limited, but when I reviewed it closely I could see they carefully selected a nice mixed offering that would appeal to all. The food quantity and quality were both EXCEPTIONAL...read on for details of why I say this. Seriously, I was somewhat shocked at how much food came in the order and just how delicious everything was. I guess there may be a few customers who don't want there food in disposable dining wear but I have yet to eat my dishware lol. For an appetizer the three of us shared a Southwest Egg Rolls (seasoned chicken, corn, black beans, and cheese). I could have made those my entire meal...YUM! We also got a side of Onion Rings...very good Especially the sauce. Worth mentioning now, Tammy makes all of their sauces and dressings...some of the best I ever had. Vickie ordered the Meatballs splash (I'm getting that next time) with 3 Nunzio meatballs with sauce and these wedges of garlic bread/toast. Doug & I each ordered the Twisted Chicken salad. A HUGE serving of seasoned Shredded chicken (lots), romaine, diced up peppers, black beans and shredded Monterey Jack cheese...all of the ingredients were quite plentiful. Doug got the homemade ranch and I went for the homemade brown sugar thyme vinaigrette which was Killer and my friend said same for the buttermilk ranch...seriously, Tammy has her dressing recipes at 5-star! I was full but then the waitress mentioned the homemade desserts. Vickie and I are chocoholics so when the waitress mentioned this thick chocolate slice of something I forgot the name of, we split a wedge. Again supreme...like letting expensive rich dark chocolate melt in you mouth. I have lived in Maggie Valley since 2005 and this is without question the BEST restaurant I have eaten in, and when I consider the very reasonable price considering the quality & quantity, might as well add Waynesville to that list as well! Yes, the food was really that good! A to Z, this place earns every bit of a...

Read moreUpdate: issue has been resolved We checked out of Mountainneer Restaurant and Fireside Cabins on January 2. That morning we called the owner and friend of my mother’s, JoAnne, to ask if it would be okay to leave my mothers Christmas gift with her so when my mom was back in town she could come by and pick it up. JoAnne said it would be fine to leave her gift and to leave in the cabin we just checked out of. TEN DAYS LATER!!! I receive a call from Joanne stating her cleaning lady did not see a gift in cabin and that we must’ve been mistaken and didn’t leave it. I can promise you after 10 days that I have cleaned my car out and unpacked all of my luggage! I physically watched my husband go back in the cabin put the gift on the table, with my mothers name on it, and when he got back in the car I even asked him where he put the gift, he said on the kitchen table with the note with your mom’s name on it. I then called my mother told her that I had spoken to JoAnne and JoAnne said to leave it in the cabin and Someone would pick it up and bring it up to the restaurant. So that is what I did! What’s even worse is the fact that my mother, who is friends with the owner, has spoken to JoAnne within these 10 days and never once did she mention that her gift...
