Amazing quality for all-you-can eat. I expected the portions to be smaller. They could be! Prices good. A california roll is under $7. I love that I could sample any part of the menu with the all you can eat deal. First time there, it was a lovely flavor tour. Waiter was a solid waiter checking in regularly. We needed to pick up our child from the baby sitter before we were finished eating. Party of 2. I left and got the baby, partner stayed at table. No raised eyebrows from the front desk when I returned, and, in fact, our waiter cherished her! He folded her a balloon doggy and gave her party glasses of cardboard. For free! Unasked! He asked if we wanted dessert, and when all was said and done, he invited us to order more for our kiddo if she wanted anything more. He also played peek-a-boo with her while we were packing up. Another worker saved me from blindly leaving our baby bottle behind. I'd rate the speciality rolls 8 out of 10 for wow factor-I saw nothing with a citrus topper, lots of cream cheese options. The solidly fair prices (for sushi, and with pre covid-inflation pricing standards), surprising quality for buffet style deals, and incredible kindness fused with professional customer service = I will hands down recommend this place to any of my friends.
Ps, their halloween decorations are tasteful and well executed, and even one part is funny. The interior decoration vibe is a bit fancy, then there are at least 2 giant tv's that had football on them. However, their sound was mercifully muted. A little bit of a 'bar' of a...
Read moreWent for the AYCE sushi and for $31/ person it did not disappoint. First I want to say we've been to the one in cedar rapids a few times and it's always been good without any real complaints but this one is noticeably better. This location is nice and bright with natural lighting, which the other location is lacking. First we ordered appetizers mostly, dumplings, spring rolls, chicken on a stick, shrimp tempura... everything was good and fresh with noticeably fresh oil. the chicken on a stick was definitely the highlight and some of the best I've ever had. While we ate the table next to us had a birthday so what seemed like the entire work crew came over and sang to them and original birthday song which was fun and everyone enjoyed. Next we ordered sushi, chicken teriyaki and sashimi and honestly for $30 we were shocked at the surprisingly high quality of seafood that's being used. The sashimi was all great, the sushi is good but quality but most tended to be mostly rice and vegetables with minimal proteins. Of everything we tried I'd have to say the chicken on a stick and teriyaki was the best but don't get me wrong everything was very good (sushi could use higher protein to vegetables proportions) and we will...
Read moreDo you like HyVee and/or Gas Station Sushi?! If so--this place is for you! This place had such good reviews that we had to try it...and we are not happy that we did. We wanted good sushi and this is NOT it. $30/adult for "all you can eat" low quality sushi is not a bargain to us. We would have rather ordered from our usual sushi place (Sushiya) for the same price and had less food.
Literally everything we got was flavorless...the tempura shrimp lacked any seasoning. The Miso/Onion Soups required a heavy helping of soy sauce to have any flavor at all. We were already worried and then the sushi came out. I choose not to get sushi at HyVee because I think it tastes cheap and this was no exception. The fish is obviously frozen and sliced very thin so you don't even taste it. Even the rice is low quality.
To add--the place was super hot/humid inside...which made it uncomfortable to even sit there and our service sucked. Our waiter kept saying that he would be right back but he could have literally just grabbed our paper with our written order on it and taken care of it immediately. I don't know what he was waiting for.
I would not recommend this...
