This is an amazing little spot for breakfast! The atmosphere is nice and open, lots of sun coming in. The vibes were really chill too, seat yourself, plenty of booths :) although this could be different on the weekends when it’s busier, I went on a Monday. They have a cute collection of handmade bird feeders for sale, which was super cute. I appreciated seeing that a lot, I love seeing businesses support handmade goods. My waitress was extremely pleasant and attentive. Never had my coffee cup empty! The coffee is amazing as well! It’s hard to find a decent cup of coffee at a diner nowadays, so the quality coffee was definitely a sign we were in the right place. I ordered the homemade corned beef hash breakfast. Usually diners try to emulate the canned corned beef hash, but this was not the case at Jake’s. This was some straight outta Ireland hash. Extremely tender corned beef, I could taste that they made it with love. It was large tender chunks too, not the shredded corned beef most places use! It was to die for! I also got the homemade blueberry jelly for my English muffin which was also delectable. Again, most diners do not take the time to provide homemade jellies for their guests, so this shows they really go the extra mile. Their menu isn’t large, but this is a good thing. It means they choose to focus on quality of the things they have. I really enjoyed everything I had today, and I’ll be back again many times! I can’t wait to make this my breakfast spot on my way to the beach or whenever I’m in the area. I wish I lived closer, I’d be there everyday! Sorry for the lack of photos, food was too good to stop and take...
Read moreWe honestly cannot find enough superlatives to describe Jake's Restaurant. Our breakfast experience on the first day was nothing short of spectacular, so much so that we had to return for a second helping the very next morning. The sheer perfection of the cinnamon buns, still warm and dripping with glaze, was divine. The banana bread was moist and bursting with flavor, a delightful surprise. For our main courses, the fluffy omelettes were cooked to absolute perfection, and the eggs, prepared exactly how we liked them, were a testament to their attention to detail. And let's not forget the home fries and hash – crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and seasoned just right. Even their homemade jellies were a revelation, each spoonful bursting with fresh, vibrant fruit flavors. Oh my goodness, if you're looking for a truly exceptional culinary experience, Jake's is an absolute must-eat destination. Our server, Amy, graced us with her presence both mornings, and I can honestly say I wish she was our waitress everywhere. Her warmth, efficiency, and genuine attentiveness made our dining experience even more memorable. Beyond the incredible food, we were also charmed by the unique, handcrafted birdhouses available for purchase – a wonderful touch that speaks to the restaurant's commitment to artistry and local charm. We are so incredibly grateful to have stumbled upon such a remarkable and welcoming place! Oh and the coffee,...
Read moreGreat location not too far from Foxwoods and a couple of popular hotel destinations. Unfortunately not a lot of breakfast options in the area and this was just about the only nearby option that was open on Labor day. This fact caused it to be overwhelmingly busy on said day. We were quoted a 30min wait ( I was honestly expecting 45-1hr given the number of people I saw waiting) and ended up waiting about 40min- perfectly expected and understandable. The inside isn't huge and they do have a few tables for outside dining. Parking was a bit difficult but I suspect this isn't the norm. Our server was very lovely and friendly. Very attentive which is always appreciated. The food was ok. I got an omelet that wasn't quite what I expected...I'm used to my mix-ins being folded in not chopped up amongst the eggs. Not as flavorful as I anticipated. Homefries were seasoned but soft. I personally prefer my home fries crispy on the outside. I tried a cinnamon bun as I'd read other reviews that they're wonderful. I wish I had been asked if I'd like it grilled because I would have declined. It was served cut in half width-wise and grilled. Served buttered with that lovely glaze. Unfortunately it was hard to enjoy because it was hard from being grilled. If I'm in the area I'd try this place again...but only if there isn't anywhere else to try. Not a bad experience in the slightest service wise but I've had better food at many other...
