Stay away from this restaurant & venue. This is a belated review of the incredibly bad service & unprofessional temperamental bad behavior from the owner/chef we received from this restaurant. It was our first time socially visiting this place & is our last. We came to the restaurant for their July 4th event they advertised on Facebook, (which they used the invite forum to promote their event). Upon entering the venue, we noted the small size of the venue which meant that service might be timely & quick, plus saw how crowded it was with other Facebook customers who saw the same invite. Unfortunately, none of the staff members could acknowledge the invite, nor honored the invite. Needless to say, many people left in frustration, due to the disorganization of the invite problem. Long story short, we waited 25 minutes for the waitress to seat us. After finally seating us, we waited another 25 minutes for the waitress to serve us drinks & food: she took our order. After we waited an additional 20 minutes, we still did not receive our drinks, much less water. When we confronted the waitress where our drinks were at, she snipped at us & said choice words & walked away. We, then spoke to the female manager on duty & explained to her about our frustration of waiting 50 minutes of not being served anything when the bar is less than 5 feet away. She promptly gave us water & we continued to explain to her about our dilemma when an employee dressed in dirty clothes came over & rudely interrupted our conversation w/o properly introducing himself. After we tried to explain to him about the problem of our drinks & food order not being served, 10 seconds after speaking with us, he unprofessionally yelled at us & argued with my husband. Since we did not know who he was, we were caught off guard by his temper & his surprised reaction. He falsely accused us of lying about the service & continued to yell at us, thus attempting to embarrass us. At that point, I stated to my husband for us to leave, as this man & the restaurant is not worth our time & energy. The next day, I called to ask who the owner was & was invited to come in to talk. Upon meeting with the manager, it was the same man who yelled at us the day before. I gave him a 2nd chance to fix the problem he created. He refused to listen & take no responsibility for his staff and most of all, nor his unprofessional outburst he presented the day before. I was given the impression he refused to care & I simply just left the venue vowing to...
Read moreIt's a shame that this venue is so beautiful, because it's ruined by the rude, unprofessional staff. I happened to DJ the event, so when I asked Orinta, the lady in charge if the lights can be dimmed, she said only she can control it. I said, "No problem" and as I started to walk away back to my booth, she said, "Excuse me?!?" as if I had made a disrespectful comment...nothing was said on my part. There were multiple instances of Orinta being rude to many other guests.
The Bride and Groom had a slideshow that was supposed to play in the background for 45 minutes. Instead, the venue had two presentation screens down the ENTIRE night with a Walking Dead themed desktop background showing. Not the look they were going for...
I asked the staff if there was going to be a champagne pour before the toasts for guests to toast with. They stated there was no champagne pour and instead guests could use the open bar. I get the crowd ready for toasts and as SOON as the speeches are over the staff starts pouring champagne...a little late for that isn't it?
After the toasts it was time for the first dance, but the cake table was still in the middle of the dance floor. I asked the nearest employee if it could be moved and she said, "Um, that isn't my job." Well maybe you should go find whose job it is because it's time for their dance.
The groom's mother made an enormous amount of desserts for the guests. The bride has, in writing, that the venue agreed to let his mother bring in the desserts she made. The mother cooked for DAYS to make everything and when she brought it in the venue refused to let her set any of them up....a complete waste.
They wouldn't let the bride and groom take any of the food THEY bought at the end of the night.
One of the bartenders kept leaving her post. The bride went and looked for her and found her eating soup! She had a full line of customers!
I hope I never have to attend or work this...
Read moreIt's not fancy food, at least the lunch fare, but that's fine because it's exactly what I'd expect for lunch at a golf course: wraps, burgers, sandwiches, salads, fries. The chicken wrap was very tasty, and fresh--not revolutionary, but a nice lunch, decent white-meat chicken, and not too skimpy a quantity. They let us sub sweet potato fries for the regular fries. The SP fries were of the pre-bought variety, standard thickness (not shoestring or thick) but also of the delicious variety. I wanted an Arnold Palmer (my fave summer drink, but also appropriate for a golf course), but the lemonade was Countrytime (or similar) and I couldn't do that, so stuck to water. Lunch was probably about $10 or $12 for each of us, so slightly pricy, but fine for a sit-down lunch. The patio was nice, although it got super windy by the end of lunch and wasn't actually so pleasant. It was a nice view, and pretty high-up, so a better view than anywhere else in or around Hammond or Whiting. My friend, who's been there before, warned me the service wasn't speedy, but we were pleasantly surprised with decently quick preparation of our food. The staff was all friendly and helpful. Obviously there's plenty of parking, so it's convenient. The food isn't as good as a Keith's, and is probably on par with a Blue Room Cafe, although a bit less...
