We recently visited the Flourish Cafe for the first time. The place is small but cozy. The food we ordered was pretty decent and the person serving us was very nice and polite.
Odd thing is that they close pretty early, by 8pm and the kitchen closes at 6:30pm. We still had pretty good time however, but it all changed when they brought our check.
The check had 4% service charge added on top of our bill by default and it had a note that the tips must be paid in cash only, which made the whole thing very inconvenient and we had to scramble for cash. Yet the owner has an audacity to be able to charge 4% for service, which is apparently OK to pay with a credit card and I’m pretty sure doesn’t go to the person serving you what’s so ever.
I don’t have any other explanation for this besides owner’s greed and/or taxes manipulations. I have my own principles for places that do these types of things and because of that we would not be coming back there. To me integrity of the place/owners is equally important as the quality of food and time spent. Unfortunately this local small business is not...
Read moreI SO wanted to love this place but it wasn’t great. The food was pretty good and presented nicely and it’s very pretty inside. But my husband ordered unsweetened iced tea and the waitress even repeated it, making a weird face and brought sweetened tea anyway. He also ordered a burger at first, and they “didn’t have any.” How do you not have burgers on a menu? He had to order something else. Our food was also brought out separately. He wanted fries with his burger and we forgot he ordered them and they were sent out to the table before anything else was. Then out came my entree, but his didn’t come out until about 15 minutes later. The baked goods looked good and the treat that came out with my Turkish coffee was really good. Also, I know with Turkish coffee the grinds end up in the coffee which is normal but the cup was more than halfway full of grinds! It was like mud. Maybe it’s supposed to be that way, but I had it before and it was not nearly as thick. They have only been open 6 months so maybe they are still trying to get their groove, but I don’t know if we’ll...
Read moreFirst off. The food was great. My wife has wanted to try here for a bit and we both had the day off so we went. I have nothing negative to say about the food. The service was slow and disjointed. Nothing horrible, our server was very nice and answered our questions. But when we were brought water it was a small bottle of water that was split between the two of us. It was odd. My two other “complaints” are please decide if you are a “coffee shop” or a restaurant. Don’t charge me $4 for each coffee (Americano, it was the closest to a “regular” coffee they had)I order while I’m sitting down to eat. I completely understand not giving refills on specialty drinks, but $8 for a coffee is silly. And lastly, either take cards or don’t. Don’t upcharge me for not having cash, and then not allow tips on cards. Luckily there was an ATM across the parking lot so could get some cash to tip. When I go again I will bring cash and probably won’t get a drink until I’m...
