DO NOT EAT HERE.. They give you less food than you expect and pay for.. They are super expensive also. I give this chinese restaurant 1 star. I ordered 1 large Egg Foo Young... I large beef fried rice ..an order of Spring Rolls.. 36.00.. Very very expensive for a restaurant that gives you smaller portions claiming to be a large size. They most definately are cutting corners giving you less food and charging you a ton of money for food that is awful tasting... I've eaten from many Chinese Restaurants for many years over time.. You know whose food tastes really good and whose doesnt.. This restaurant's food does not taste good at all. In fact... the food tasted really awful... Large Egg Foo Young is always sold with 4 huge paties that comes in a brown sauce only....it comes in white containers when ordered to go. My food from here did not come in white large containers..it came in plastic plate like very shallow containers.. also..really weird ..no brown sauce but a boat load of cheap quality chicken with lots of veggies in my Egg Foo Young which were only 3 small tiny patties half the size that most restaurants sell it like ...The cheap quality chicken they put in the Egg Foo Young containers with veggies tasted like fake rubbery chicken.... The beef in my beef fried rice was also very cheap quality rubbery fake tasting beef. They sold me gross food half the portion size I should have received. The Spring Rollls also not tasty at all ....very bland ..no flavor at all ..nothing.. They're supposed to have a subtle taste..nothing. I will never waste my money here ever again. People that give this place 4-Stars.. All I have to say to you is Wow! Really?! You have no idea what really good Chinese food...
Read moreIf I could give a 0 star I would. I'm from Ohio so we tried something new before getting back on the road again, we got the chicken an broccoli. I usually look at reviews before I go an they looked decent food was something else. My sauce for the chicken tasted like soap. It had a foul smell in the dining room. Bathroom was very unpleasant had stuff falling from the ceiling while using the restroom. Kinda pricey when we asked more detail about menu was kinda rude. We got our bill we left a decent tip witch was 5 bucks even tho food wasn't good but guess it wasn't enough because we had our waiter come out to us in the parking lot waving my receipt at me saying no we tip good in Chicago saying she pretty much deserved more than what I gave. She kept trying to get me to add more on to my tip in the parking lot was extremely rude! Told us not to come back over a tip. We won't be coming back because the food was just not okay. An to be followed out to my car...
Read moreTongs Hunan in Northbrook is a fantastic spot for delicious Chinese cuisine! The menu offers a great variety of dishes, from classic favorites to more unique options. The flavors are consistently impressive, with the perfect balance of spices and seasonings.
The service is friendly and efficient, making dining here a pleasant experience. The portions are generous, ensuring you get good value for your money. I particularly enjoyed the Kung Pao Chicken and the Hunan Beef—both were flavorful and cooked to perfection.
The ambiance is cozy and inviting, ideal for a casual dinner with family or friends. The only reason I’m giving it four stars instead of five is that sometimes the wait time can be a bit long, especially during peak hours. However, the quality of the food makes it worth the wait.
Overall, Tongs Hunan is a wonderful choice for anyone craving tasty Chinese food in Northbrook. I’ll definitely...
