Rocky's of Northville — Restaurant in Northville Charter Township

I let my irritation with this restaurant subside before posting this review. My parents and mother-in-law, and other of the senior variety seem to adore this place but I found it to be mismanaged beyond even mediocre standards of service. Because of illness, the family decided to have Xmas Eve dinner and made a reservation a couple months ago for 6:30 pm.

Upon arrival we were told they were running slightly behind, and they could seat us at 7:00. Well, ok, no worries, gave us a chance to visit. That said, 7:00 turned into 7:15, 7:30, 7:45!!! It was now 75 minutes past our reservation time. The excuse "Oh we're waiting for the table to clear. " Really? How late did you serve that table that they should've been finished by 6:30 yet were still feasting 75 minutes later???!!!

Finally we are seated. No water brought to the table, nothing, when a server finally appeared 15 minutes later. She took our order but returned 10 minutes later to "make sure she got it right." What???? So that meant the order hadn't even gone in!!!! My father is 90 years old, and it'd been two hours past our reservation before we got even a morsel of bread and water. By the time we cashed out, it was 10:00!!!

And in a stunning occurrence, when I went to management to complain, I was told I was the one that was rude, in fact, I was told several times I was being rude and the manager and her sidekick kept arguing with me. What the frickety frack? What happened to the customer is always right? What happened to trying to calm the customer with a "I'm so sorry, we're going to send appetizers on the house" OR SOMETHING. We were seated SEVENTY-FIVE minutes after our reservation time. I Had to ask for apps to be sent.

This place is mismanaged. In their greed, they accepted too many reservations, were understaffed to handle the crowd. Yes, it was a holiday. Yes, we realized you were a busy packed house, but a competent management team would realize people aren't going to eat & go, they want to visit with family and will most likely linger longer than any other evening. The reservations should have been spaced further apart.

That said, I felt sorry for our server, a lovely lady, who was overworked on Xmas Eve b/c of poor management. I hope our cash, generous tip helped make her hard work a little more palatable.

If there were no food left on earth but at Rocky's I'd eat dirt before I'd visit this establishment again.

Started going to lunch on Fridays to Rocky's on my way to visit a friend in Northville who is dying in hospice. Two of us, had great lunches which were a great deal and delicious food. Our friend in hospice requested one piece of fish she doesn't eat very much and couldn't eat a whole sandwich so I asked our waitress if we could just do one little piece of a la carte fish, which she kindly did and charged us $5 for the piece of fish which was great. My friend enjoyed it very much. The next Friday, we brought her clam chowder and some bread with she enjoyed very much. Today she asked if I could get her another piece of fish so when I ordered it and explained the circumstances the waitress came back and said they couldn't do just one piece of fish that we would have to buy the whole dinner for $19. So I said that's okay we'll just do clam chowder again. On my way out, I thought well maybe I should mention this to the manager because I really wanted to bring our friend what she wanted, so I asked to speak to the manager and I told him of the situation that I have just described, he looked at me and said no one has ever bought a piece of fish here for only $5. He said I am the owner, and the head chef is my friend and I know no one ever sold you a piece of fish for only $5 we would be broke if that happened. I couldn't believe that he was accusing me of lying about it, but I took the clam chowder and left. When I got tp my friend the clam chowder was cold very small portion and no butter for the bread which was also cold. Last week when I got the clam chowder there was a nice healthy hot portion double wrapped with bread all warm, and butter. I know what I asked for was off the menu but I'm very disappointed to be accused of not telling the truth, and that the owner had such poor customer service skills. I am, however impressed with the same waitress that waited on Me 2 weeks in a row that helped out and went the extra mile that brightened a dying person's day. Maybe she will be a good influence...

Me and my family of 6 reserved a reservation for 4:45. We were seated on time, got drinks and ordered appetizers. We were all ready to order food so the server took our order. So far everything seemed good until we had to continuously ask for refills on our drinks. The appetizer came, we ordered the spinach artichoke dip, there was a weird funny taste like lemon, lime, or capers. It was unappealing. The French onion soup was probably the best part of the entire meal. Still asking for more refills.. our entree arrived, I ordered the chipotle honey glazed salmon. The asparagus and rice has no taste or flavor. The salmon was cooked great but had no taste at all. The pineapple salsa however was mostly onion, spicy and the pineapple was not ripe and sour. By the end of the meal me and my mother ordered desert.. waited almost 25 minutes. At this point we just told the server we wanted it to go because we were already to pay the check and everyone at our table was waiting to leave.. it was a pretty big inconvenience. 5 minutes later she brought the check and our deserts. I guess this is the type of establishment to where if you order it in plastic container it comes out faster? I mean it’s cake on a plate. With some topping or drizzle. I work in food… Once we got home and got settled decided to try lemon cheesecake, the sauce on the bottom tasted like nothing and the whole cheesecake was grainy and did not even taste good. Kinda sad I waited 25 minutes just to be disappointed at home. Thankfully I had ice cream in the freezer! This whole experience was ridiculous. Overall I expected better after the reviews I heard. Apparently my expectations...
