First time & Last time - Rude Staff, mediocre food.. My two main stay Pizza Places in Northvale were closed so, after a road trip, we thought we'd try Mario's. I had to spell my name three times for the counter help (and it's only four letters). We waited. First off - No one named "Mario" makes your pie. Nor does any "family member " cook your food - Go in - you'll see what I mean. He might put the pie in the oven, take it out, cut it....There's lots of chaos behind the counter too. A real keystone comedy, lots of aimless running around. Mario n' crew are more than happy to spend large amounts of time talking to their familiar customers, no problem there. When my pie was ready - the blond kid behind the counter yelled "SAUSAGE!" Slammed it on the counter and walked away. It would have been nice to be addressed by my name (after all, I spelled it for them three times) or had some acknowledgement of my patronage as others in there had. Garlic knots we decent - the pie was absolutely nothing special! As I said in Northvale there are (at least) two family run pizza joints where the family is behind the counter and in the kitchen, they make great pies & specialties, and they thank you for your business - they even talk to you. There are a lot of choices in our area....
Read moreI’m so sad from the experience I just had. We’ve ordered from here many times with no problems. We ordered a meatball parm and something seemed off. It was stale and had a weird after taste. We ordered through Grubhub and got a refund from them. Mario’s then calls me directly asking what’s wrong with the food to which I explained nicely. He said they made them yesterday and nobody else has a problem, grubhub can’t just take his money and “you guys “ just use the app and then I don’t know what’s wrong. He continued to be defensive that there’s nothing wrong with his food. I apologized because at this point I can tell he wasn’t going to. He then asked where I worked which was creepy. I told him he was getting aggressive with this conversation as if I was the one in the wrong. He then said he wasn’t going to be continuing this conversation. I’ve never experienced such unprofessionalism. If your food sucks you make it up to the customer, not harass them. Sad because their penne was very good. Guess I’m not ordering...
Read moreThe owner is very nice and is very interactive with his customers. The place is a popular staple in the surrounding towns due to it's quality of pizza and overall quality in the food.
I drive out of my way to go to Mario's due to it's good prices, friendly management and employees and amazing pizza and sandwiches.
The other competition in the area can't come close to the quality of the food and all other places are extremely expensive for no reason.
I will continue to return to Mario's pizza and would recommend the grandma slice due to the perfect amount of garlic on the pizza or would recommend the buffalo pizza with Chipotle sauce.
As for sandwiches you can't go wrong with the chicken parm or meatball parm. They also have a wide variety of drinks from Snapple to rootbeer and vitamin water. If you are in the area and never went to Mario's make the switch from your pizzeria and give Mario's a try you...
