Smokin' Wings and Southern Things of Hawaii — Restaurant in Oʻahu

My review doesn't have anything to do with the food. I gave 5 stars for the food because I didn't get to try it. So apparently there is a 1 hour time between service of breakfast and lunch. Not a huge deal but I stood in line for 15 minutes behind a lady waiting for a large tray of food and apparently a lot more she was told to pick up at the back door with her car. So after patiently waiting in line I step forward and then the gentleman who had crossed the whole length of the counter in front of me about 25 times asks if he could help me. I tell him my order and he says they aren't serving lunch yet. So I ask if they are serving breakfast and he tells me they are closed for an hour between. Now I'm sorry but if you know you are closed and you walk by someone 25 times, I would think you would have the decency to acknowledge that person and find out what they were waiting on. It's the simple things that are disappearing from all service industries and validating your customers is one of them. Why unnecessarily waste 15 minutes of someone's time when a simple question could resolve the situation...

I do love this place but seems me like since hickam service has gone down immensely. But my most recent experience has me unsure if can continue to support. POV: You call ahead to make an order and they don’t answer but the instructions are to text. You follow directions and text your order while en route (10 minutes away). When you walk in- no one is in line and they can see you waiting. There are four people working and everyone works without even acknowledging you for almost 10 minutes. Finally they acknowledge you walked in only to tell you they haven’t event seen your texted order , nor started it.

Been there a few times now, and it has delivered every time. It's fairly priced, not a terrific value or anything, but the food is always fresh and beautifully cooked. It's the best non-Asian BBQ I've had on island; their pulled brisket BBQ sandwich is amazing, as is the catfish. All their sides are always so well done, and I've gotten a ham bone in my collard greens every time I've ordered them. So much flavor. Definitely southern-themed. They are pretty slow, though, so if it's busy, you'll be waiting a little while, but it's not a...
