⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (this is an additional 5 stars. They are a 10.
We own Da Dream Lab, located right behind Tradition Coffee Roasters, and we feel so fortunate to have them as neighbors. Brian and Lindsey take care of not only our students and families but also our staff!
Our keiki absolutely love visiting for their keikichinos (hot chocolate), and their team often goes out of their way to make it extra fun by adding cute designs with cinnamon on top like a rainbow. It's those thoughtful touches that make it a hit with the kids! Meanwhile, the parents enjoy dropping their kiddos off with us, then heading over to grab a fresh coffee and a pastry while they relax and recharge.
Their staff is always kind, and fun to talk to. Not just as neighbors. You can tell that they all truly care, and love to talk story with all their guests while providing the best service. All of our staff wants to be friends with all of them. (Yes. They are all that cool)
They also take great care of my staff, which is no small thing when we’re managing 125 students on a busy day. That extra caffeine boost really helps keep our teachers going, and the coffee is hands down some of the best you’ll find on the island.
Brian and Lindsey are not just fantastic coffee roasters—they are two of the most hardworking, thoughtful, and community-minded people we know. They are committed parents and collaborative business owners, and their attention to quality and customer care shines through in everything they do. We're grateful to have them as part of our Kailua community, and most importantly, our neighbors!
Keep up the amazing...
Read moredid the roastery tour and coffee tasting. it was great. the beginning half was a informative look into how coffee is made and what makes specialty coffee different. after that, we had a comparative tasting with 3 different coffees.
being new to coffee and not having the most discerning palate, i was a little worried that i might not be able to taste the difference between the cups. but not to worry, they thought of that--they provided 3 different coffees that was easy to pick out the differences between them with side by side tasting. although i may have had some trouble picking out tasting notes like a specific fruit, or if it tasted earthy or not, there was enough of a difference that i could tell they were 3 distinct coffees. understanding that "coffee" is no longer just coffee, and can have different flavors and tastes, it was a great way to experience different roast levels and processes.
we also got to pick up some coffee at a slight discount for doing the tour, which is a nice bonus.
rachel kept things fun, lighthearted and overall i just felt welcome to be there. very helpful in not only assisting me in picking coffee, but also what may be good with the coffee (milk, sugar, etc) and how it may work together with their decaf coffee for a custom half caf.
if you're thinking of trying freshly roasted coffee from a good local roaster, give tradition coffee roasters a shot.
i'm looking forward to going back and...
Read moreI recommend this event for anyone who is a coffee lover; my wife and I have long been. We arrived 10 minutes early for our “Roasters Tour & Coffee Tasting” and watched the crew preparing the day’s coffee orders for shipping (they ship 80% of their coffee to mainland customers). I first spoke with a worker who turned out to have previously been a hobby roaster; the husband and wife owners did different parts of the 45 minute tour. A high point for me was watching as the owner/roaster studied a roasting software’s curves on his laptop (I asked him the name of the software, etc); he then pulled a sample from the roast chamber and soon after an audible 2nd Crack was heard and then swiftly 20+lbs of espresso beans began pouring into the circular moving cooling mechanism, whiffs of steam raising, aroma, etc. The tour was orchestrated to review all static and active working areas (with no glass partitions). Amongst the different burlap coffee bags I recognized some country and regional names that were favorites and discussed related topics. We blind tasted three different offerings brewed drip & reviewed the coffee taster’s favor wheel & discussed related concerns. Afterwards we ordered a cappuccino & a Hario pour-over brewed with beans we haven’t tasted. In the merchandise area I’d picked up a book on Hawaiian coffee that was authored by a friend of theirs. Everyone was friendly and passionate about coffee & we sure got...
