Easily the very WORST dining experience my fiance and I have EVER had... We had high hopes for our first visit to Nancetta's on Valentine's Day. We arrived promptly for our 8:00 PM reservation and were seated in the dining room along with about 5 other tables. We noticed no one was eating but didn't think much of it. After about 20 minutes, the waitress (who we later found out was the owner of the restaurant) finally came over and brought us water. We placed our orders then including two glasses of wine which didn't come for at least 20 more minutes and after asking twice...
It was around 10:00 PM when we finally flagged down the waitress and requested our check as we STILL had not received our meals. We noticed 2 other tables were also getting audibly frustrated and one opted to leave... After we requested our check, our meals miraculously appeared within two minutes. You would think after two hours the food would hopefully at least be worth the wait but unfortunately that was not the case either. We both ordered salmon wrapped scallops and were served THREE cold scallops with a few shreds of salty salmon and a hunk of plain, parboiled broccoli. The side of 'pasta' that came out afterwards was also cold, gummy and entirely flavorless! Olive Garden would be considered gourmet in comparison.
We have never been so disgusted with such poor service in our lives!! To pay over $100 for a pathetic meal after waiting 2+ hours with absolutely no explanation is just unacceptable. We came to find out (from another table) that all of the wait staff called off. You would think that the OWNER would have had the decency to have communicated this to us up front so we would've at least had the option to forego wasting our entire Valentine's Day evening... Needless to say, we will NEVER be back and would not ever recommend...
Read moreI'm not too sure what to think of this place. Some of the food was quite good, but most of it left me unsatisfied. My dining partner stated that this place was really good other times he ate there, but wasn't quite up to par the day we dined. He got the bolognese and said it was good, but not as great as usually.
Decor and customer service was great, even though we did take out. The specials were all fresh and exciting. I opted to go with what seemed to be a staple pasta dish: homemade pasta with octopus and prawns. I also tried the pizza, risotto balls, raspberry chocolate chip gelato, lemon tart, and tiramisu.
The portion was quite large, but I did have to pay $28 for the pasta. The octopus (and prawns) were incredibly good. Super smokey and had an amazing flavor profile. I'd recommend just getting 2 orders of the grilled octopus instead of this entree. It costs less and has more flavor. Pasta itself was a bit thick. Tomato sauce was too buttery/oily for my taste and the saffron was somewhat overpowering.
I thought the risotto balls had too much oil to them as well. I could not taste the cheesy flavor in the risotto. Pizza was crispy, large, and decently priced. Others complained about the char on it, but I enjoyed the pie. I thought all the desserts were excellent. Fantastic gelato, not too creamy and a good amount of chocolate chips. Rich tiramisu, quite fluffy. I'm not a fan of lemon but I did find the lemon tart to be pretty good as well.
Overall, I think if you order a special, the octopus, rabbit, or duck, you will be satisfied. Prices are high so keep that in mind. I wasn't a huge fan of the saffron in the pasta, but otherwise, a fairly good place. Try...
Read moreWould give this less stars if I could…but can’t…so giving one.
To start, the dining room was overly dark and very cold. It took one hour and fifteen minutes to get two appetizers. The server, Jay, was great…but kept saying the food was slow coming out because there was only one cook in the kitchen. Risotto balls were dry but the squash blossoms were ok.
When our food finally came out, another 45 minutes later, three orders were ok but two (crab ravioli and short rib ravioli) were so salty (and undercooked) that they were inedible. The chicken in the Chicken Parmesan was good, but the pasta was too salty. It almost seemed as if “something had gone wrong” in the kitchen and they were hoping we didn’t notice.
The eggplant was good, but the gnocchi with marinara sauce was portioned too small for the price. The sauce was thin with very little flavor.
Disappointing that no salad came with the meal. And the “fresh, hot” bread that came out prior to the appetizer was only slightly warn.
A gentleman came out to see how our meals were (we assumed he was the owner). He made every excuse about why the dishes “could have been salty” and making a scene in the restaurant. He was genuinely appalled that we were dissatisfied. He did finally agree to take the two ravioli orders off the bill.
We will not return. The whole dining...
