Cocina Caliente — Restaurant in Oak Creek

What a cute little gem of a place. I have driven by so many times and kept forgetting to plan a dinner there. I am so glad I finally got it scheduled last night. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but the interior is just lovely. Bright and colorful with some beautiful artwork and very pretty flowers in the windows.

The service was great. Friendly and welcoming, and very attentive. This time I got her name but I have forgotten it. Such a putz. She was so very sweet.

The food is just delicious. There was just one table of five and then our table of seven, and yes there was a bit of a wait. However I see that more of an assurance that the food is very fresh versus being premade and warmed/finished when ordered. And it WAS very fresh. We had a large variety of items ordered in our group and everyone loved it all. I made my own combo so I could try several items: Enchilada Dinner (cheese), Small Chicken Quesadilla, Ground Beef American Taco, and a Small Birria Chimichanga. I ate the whole taco (5" flour tortilla), 1 of the three enchiladas, and half of the quesadilla and chimichanga. Everything was so delicious. The birria is SO tender and juicy. A series of mistakes really showed the professionalism of the staff.

Story time. I had an odd order that I placed online. Some pancakes, and burrito dinner, because the kids wanted pancakes. Everything went through just fine from their website. When I arrived they informed me that the website ordering system was down. The awesome guy behind the counter said "give me 10 minutes and I will have it made for you". He then accidentally re-ran my card because I added 4 sodas to go, which he promptly voided. My order was made how I wanted it and it was amazing. My only complaint is now my kids are covered in chocolate peanut butter pancakes and syrup (joking).

His quick service and welcoming attitude made me forget that I my order was technically messed up twice.

How you fix your mistakes says more about you than the mistakes themselves, and he was stellar!!! 10/10

We decided to drive around and experience the beauty of Wisconsin's fall colors and go out for dinner, I've been driving by Cocina Caliente for a while but haven't been able to stop by until today. That being said, I wish I had stopped in sooner. The nachos were a thing of beauty. The chips were crisp, and the toppings were nicely balanced; I ordered the carne Zamora, which was tender. Trust me, you won't need a knife to cut this steak. The beans and the potatoes were an excellent pairing. I left full and satisfied, and the wife ordered the flauta dinner.
