My husband and I live and work in Bass Lake, and we come here for lunch all the time -pretty much once a week. The service is fantastic, everyone is so nice and helpful when you have questions about menu items. Coming here is like coming to a friend's house. As far as food goes, here's my rundown: Chicken Salad is wonderful, it's what I get almost every time since we're usually in just for a quick bite. Their Burritos are humongous and delicious -the size does not sacrifice the flavor at all. One of the first times we came and actually had dinner I got one of the combination plates with the Chile Relleno and it was so much better than what I'd had at another nearby place. Last time we had dinner I got the Camarones A La Diabla (shrimps in a spicy red sauce) and they were TO DIE FOR. I can't wait to have them again. My husband loves their Fajitas, I haven't had them yet but they look amazing. They literally have THE BEST Chips & Salsa and THE BEST House Margaritas (and they're margaritas are beautifully priced, it can't get better). I literally have not had better chips and salsa anywhere else.

I love supporting local business and this place deserves...

Very good taste in strongly themed setting, friendly service. Four years ago, my 7-years-old daughter and I first dropped into this family style Mexican place after walking two and half kilometers (1.6 miles) following heavy snow. We were so satisfied that we come back specifically for it.

The food may not be the very best Mexican I have tried, but "satisfactory guaranteed" may just apply. Combined with extremely inexpensive pricing, you really cannot top the value.

In addition to the very Mexican food, the decoration is also very Mexican. Even though this is not a high maintenance venue, lighting and colour theme make the interior very attractive.

This time, my daughter ordered a combination of tamale and chilis rellenos. I got sautéed cod in a fried tortilla bowl. Aside from being more oily than we are used to, both are excellent. We'd never had fried ice cream before so we also took one for novelty. Turns out that ice cream is enclosed in a fried taco bowl. My daughter insists that the bowl is then deep fried but I highly doubt it.

The meal only costs $28...

NUMBER 1: I did NOT eat at Velasco's Mexican Restaurant in Bass Lake, CA "5 days ago" so whomever wrote the "other review with my name mysteriously attached, was an imposter .. it was NOT ME NOR DOES THAT REVIEW "Reflect" my Opinion of Velasco's ..

MY PERSONAL OPINION of Velasco's is this ..

Velasco's is a fine restaurant .. ran and operated by the same nice family for years .. as I have eaten so many, many times over the years at Velasco's, the family and servers greet us by name which inspires me to remain a loyal customer .. I have also eaten there with friends and family from out of town over the years and everyone is always happy with the quality, freshness, taste and value at Velasco's .. their Menu is great, their food is great and I highly recommend Velasco's to...

Why has it taken me so long to finally try this place!? Their food is AMAZING! Hands-down my new favorite Mexican restaurant. Because of Covid you can only order for pick up, so we brought it back to our chalet and all I can say is wow! Compliments to the chef! And the staff was so very friendly! We will definitely be frequenting this establishment! We had Chef Efren’s Maxima Fajitas, Asada Chimichanga, Jalapeño Poppers, Chips and Salsa and Albondigas. And they have cocktails to go!!!
