Ike's Love & Sandwiches — Restaurant in Oakland

Chasing after 3 children under the age of 5 builds up a HUGE appetite after a couple of hours and boy was I famished. So when I walked into Ike's I could already smell all the goodness it has to offer.

I ended up buying a Matt Cain and a Bella (it's called something else on the menu). What the young gentleman explained about the menu was each Ike's had their own "special" menu, granted there were some sandwiches which goes across the board with all Ike's places. For two sandwiches on dutch crunch rolls came out to $22, $11 per sandwich is a little bit pricey.

My friend had the Bella and I the Matt Cain. Whoever Matt Cain is/was, thank you for existing, later I did find out Matt Cain is player for the SF Giants; go figure. The Godfather sauce with the roast beef. . . OMG!! It was saucy and succulent and then came in the dutch crunch. This bread MADE the sandwich, it was crunchy and then soft and then there were parts where it sopped up the sauce. . . ahh! drool

Ike's is found all over the bay, this particular one was nice. It took a good minute or two or 5 more or less to get my sandwiches. If it wasn't so pricey I would give it 5 stars. Ike's is enjoyable when you're not on a budget or when you are starving. Awesome sandwiches that comes...

I'll acknowledge the workers seem quite busy, but the service was rude.

When I asked about a price discrepancy in my order from what was on the menu, the worker blamed me for not seeing a yellow sticker/sign that said: under construction. She asked me "you can't see that? It says under construction". 1st of all, of course I didn't, that's why I was confused. 2nd of all, how does that explain why I'm being charged more. I know I wasn't the 1st person to ask this -- another customer told me he had the same interaction with the worker. If she knows this is a recurring issue, then be proactive in explaining the situations to customers or more understanding when the customers are confused.

I know it's MLK Day, and we all would prefer commemorating the holiday rather than being stressed at work, but don't take that frustration out...

Today 11/12/21 I ordered a sandwich online during a lunch rush. Gotta say they had orders coming in like I've never seen before. I got my sandwich after only waiting a few minutes, and it was made correctly. Contrary to the basic Rockridge woman with her giant stroller in the store complaining that things were disorganized. Its called being busy lady, so shut up and wait for your name to be called.

Respect to the girl making the sandwiches, she deserves a raise. I appreciate you and your hard work if you...
