La Esquina (Taquerina La Esquina) is a hidden gem that you should absolutely try with amazing Mexican food. While taking an Uber from the Coliseum to the restaurant, my Uber driver (who works for FedEx) told me this restaurant was amazing. On the owner’s recommendation, I ordered the quesabirria tacos and a Coke at the window and then sat down at a table on their covered patio. The meal itself was perfectly cooked, and the atmosphere was low key in the absolute best way. All in all, the meal reminded me of many local neighborhood restaurants in Nogales and Hermosillo. What a gem! A true find! A local eatery in East Oakland right on the corner of 99th and Macarthur. Family run serving Mexican food. The hand made tortillas make it worth the trip. The food was good. Had a homemade feel to it. The atmosphere made it feel like you stepped into an eatery in Mexico. Rustic and colorful. The place closes at 6:00 pm but may stay open longer once there are more people in the area.
