i have had a lot of korean food in my life and this place by far has the most authentic/flavorful korean food i’ve ever had. don’t let the location fool you. i was a little hesitant at first when i got there and questioned whether or not it would be good. it’s just located in a random/secluded part of town. but if you want some of the best korean food you’ve ever had, go here. the service was amazing and i couldn’t believe how good the food was. i truly dream about this place and it’s kimbap/bibimbap everyday. i don’t live in ocala anymore, but every time i visit i HAVE to go here. 12/10 stars. very well done. i don’t ever want this place to close. please support them as much as you can because they really put a lot into their food.
also, the lady that commented that the location was scary looking and gave a poor review and admitted she didn’t even try the food: please don’t listen to her. that’s her problem— she didn’t even try the food. the food is worth the “strange location.”
there’s this wonderful article by eater.com that talked about why most immigrants choose to start their family businesses in american gas stations... here’s a quote from that: “As I speak to each owner, I realize the choice of a gas station is always a utilitarian one. When I ask her why they chose a gas station, Angelina Rizo gives me two answers. The first is one I hear from every restaurant owner I speak to: People need gasoline, so as long as people are driving, the more likely they are to have customers, and the more likely those customers will need something to eat. It’s an explanation rooted in the same immigrant mentality I’ve seen and heard my entire life: Look for opportunities, stay on your toes, and always find a way to be useful. When we wonder why immigrants are so entrepreneurial, it’s because so many of us are taught to first look to see where we are needed, and then, once we are there, go beyond.”
so, i ask you all once again to ignore the woman’s google review of this place, because once you try the food... you will ignore the location and come back for more. i promise you.
have a good day and...
Read moreTitle: Disappointing Service Experience at Haeorum Restaurant
I have been a loyal customer of Haeorum restaurant for over five years, appreciating its family-owned and operated nature. The warm and friendly atmosphere, along with the delicious food, kept me coming back. However, my recent experience has left me greatly disappointed and unwilling to return.
The sisters who usually manage the front counter and take orders have always made me feel valued as a customer. Unfortunately, a younger brother has now taken over customer interactions, and his attitude is both short and rude. This sudden change in customer service has been a significant letdown for me and my companions.
When I confronted the younger brother about his behavior and expressed concern about the impact on the sisters' hard-earned relationships with customers, he displayed a complete lack of care and even laughed it off. He made an apology, it felt insincere and failed to resolve the issue.
It is disheartening to witness how one individual's actions can potentially ruin the excellent reputation and efforts that this family has built over the years. Haeorum restaurant offers amazing food, and it's a shame that such a negative experience with the younger brother has overshadowed that.
Regrettably, given the poor customer service and the negative encounter with the younger brother, I will not be returning to Haeorum restaurant anytime soon. I hope that the family takes notice of these concerns and takes appropriate actions to rectify the situation. Customers should feel valued and appreciated, as they are the lifeblood of any business.
In conclusion, while the food at Haeorum restaurant remains outstanding, the decline in customer service due to the younger brother's behavior has left me with a sour taste. I hope that the family can address this issue promptly and restore the welcoming and friendly atmosphere that made this restaurant so special to me.

Read moreMy first husband, (one of those "I just got out of boot camp" military marriages of 19 years young... lol) was half Korean. His beautiful mother Chong taught me how to cook Korean dishes on Sundays after we went to church. I loved learning and being around such awesome and happy humans. So, every now and then, I crave really good and properly seasoned Korean food which isbhard to find in the mainstream restaurant market. I was skeptical at first because it was located in a small market with gas pumps, which isn't typical in the USA, for more than a hot dog or bad breakfast sandwich. I walked in and realized I was in the right place! SUPER CLEAN & SQUARED AWAY. The food was spot on, fresh and made to order😋. The seasonings perfect. The dumplings were so good and bulgogi (BIMBIMBAP BOWL) was delish. The people were kind, attentive and you could see and feel their place in this community with the stream of return regulars that came in while I was there. A group of 6 came rushing in seconds after "closing" but left happy😊. This is what AMERICA is and is all about, good local service married with COMMUNITY. Next door, you will find VIP groomers, who took in my German Shepard service animal, last minute giving her some much deserved pampering! So, if you are undecided - overcome that and you won't be disappointed- you'll be blessed- just like me and Freya!!! KAMSAMNIDA...
