Brennan's Delicatessen of Oakhurst — Restaurant in Ocean Township

This is a very popular sandwich shop in "Little Oakhurst", just east of Rt 35 and past Ocean Township High School. They offer a wide selection on their board, and customers can make changes to their sandwiches when they order! The best part, for me, is that I am often able to choose a particular type of bread: I often choose either 7-grain or Focaccia. They also have breakfast options for people that wish to come here early! It is very well run and organized where you place your order by the kitchen counter, you pick up your food, a receipt, and any extras you pick from the shelves, and you pay at the counter at the front. The staff are very fast in making each individual order, so there is not a wait unless you have a large order. There is seating in the middle and by the front windows, but most times I have come here the seats are already full. The extras that are available include salads, some bakery items like muffins and cookies, sodas, and brand cookies and candy at the front. I am very happy that this shop carries Boylan's soda, a smaller company but sodas that I enjoy more than the name brand sodas. Went there today ordered two sandwiches on roast beef and provolone mayo lettuce salt and pepper. One number one ham and salami. We have been going to this location for years. Today WOW what a disappointment. In the past the sandwich would be layered with roast beef, today I think there were two slices on the bread and received no lettuce as I did mention it twice. The number one sandwich which was an Italian with ham and salami had two slices of salami and barely any ham. The worst part was had only red vinegar no oil. They put so much vinegar it soaked the bread terribly. Two sandwiches and a large bag of chips with two sodas. Yes 38.00 and change unfortunately we took everything to Asbury to watch the ocean. Did not want to go back. Brennan’s listen to me we were loyal to you and so disappointed. Someone wasn’t at the helm today watching what was taking place. Will not be returning for a while. The level of unprofessionalism is baffling. Missing items when large orders are placed by doctors offices in which we have brought to there attention as paying customers and we have noticed there still holding resentment because we complain about a wrap that the chicken tasted old and like rubber. Ever since that incident occurred every time we place a large order still continuing to give them the benefit of doubt by choosing them they speak to us condescending and passive aggressive stating “ we don’t want to miss items” or get the order wrong”. I guess this place forgets that as paying customers we have options to take our business elsewhere. They got some items wrong as well as missing items once again.
