The Breakfast Mug Oceanside — Restaurant in Oceanside

The short version: This place is not as good AS DENNYS. Dennys, you guys.

Food was undercooked. Took forever to get salt and pepper shakers, and butter for the toast I ordered. Staff don’t seem to have figured out a communication system yet- service was pretty haphazard and poor overall.

Decor is... grim. Really sparse, and everything is greyish- paint, carpet, “art”. Looks like they’re shooting for a country cafe look, but with doctor’s office art on the wall and modernist ikea light fixtures.

They returned the check to me without my card, and I had to call the server back and ask for it. Took her about 5 minutes to find it. She brought it back laughing that they had lost it.

Way overpriced- $2.75 for a cup of mediocre coffee. Avocado is, as always, extra - for ONE SLICE.

Also - WHY IS IT CALLED THE BREAKFAST MUG? It implies that they offer a variety of beverages that would come in a mug- coffees, lattes and other espresso drinks, chai, more than a basic 2 or 3 teas... but no, just your basic drip coffee and a couple tea bags. Not even mug gimmicks, like an egg scramble in a mug, or brownie sundaes in a mug. Seriously, what’s with the name?

Very disappointed- I was hoping for a mom n’ pop coffee shop close to my home, but instead it’s a dismal diner. Will not...

Waited 40 minutes, had others seated way before us. Only when I confronted the staff did they seat us. Took over 2 hours for breakfast/lunch. Food was as good as any fast food, so waiting was worthless. Only good was a nice weiter.

Update: Thank you sir for your reply. I did not feel welcomed at your restaurant and I think you can do better. The food was just basic, and our waffle was first to come out, the rest of the food came out 10 minutes later. By the time we got to the waffles they were cold and soggy from sitting on our table. I did not mind when your staff said 40 minutes wait to be seated, but I did mind empty tables sitting there 20-30 minutes while we were standing outside. The cutting in line, the group you speak of was actually the second group, and that's when I finally said something. We got there at 11 am, finished our food at 1:20 pm. Not the way I intended to spend my afternoon. And the food was just okay, I really was hoping waiting 40 minutes was going to make it worth while, but not even close. My burger was as tasty as any fast food burger without the "fast". I wish...

So, Me and my girlfriends went to try a new place, on Saturday at 11am, it was already people waiting to be sitting outside the restaurant, so the girl by the door tell me the waiting was 30 then 40 minutes, we stayed, So we’re waiting for about 25 minutes and I saw there’s a large of a group of Hispanic family trying to get in, they actually cut the line, to get inside the restaurant when that was another group of four women waiting already before us, and we just look each other and they were like what’s going on? why did they cut the line? and it seems like it they didn’t care maybe they’re all family members from some one works there we got annoying and we left because that was rude that we were waiting for about 40 minutes. That group of people was just getting there, Not ok. For the record I’m Mexican too. My friend and I leave the other group of 4 American ladies leave right after us, we meet at other restaurant ☺️ we all have to wait in line no. 👎 no...
