I was extremely disappointed in my experience here. I have lived in Utah for the majority of my life and had yet to experience Rainbow Gardens and all its Glory. To say that I was excited is it terrible underplay of how my eyes lit up when I pulled in the parking lot. Before I begin, please allow me to clarify, this review is is in reference ONLY to the Greenery Restaurant. I'd like to add that this reference is only my opinion and my experience from my perspective. I do understand that there are multiple variables that could have affected my dining experience. I I only ask that my again is respected as mine. Please take my opinion and take it leave it or do with it what you will. I found the gift shop to be a cave of wonders! A plethora of trinkets and treasures awaiting their discovery! And the cashier! She was happy, smiling, and her kind eyes invited me as she gently urged me to explore! Unfortunately I mistake on our part is that we did not allow ourselves enough time to look around the gift shop before we had dinner. we made our way to the greenery restaurant and the hostess was very busy checking people out. She greeted us in a semi timely manner but unfortunately because we are brand-new here we were unable to know if we were to seat ourselves or if we are to wait to be seated. She quickly took us to a table and gave us a freshwater can I sell my knees and smiled and told us that our waiter would be with us. 10 minutes later our waiter said hello and asked if we were ready to order. We gave him our complete order, however we were not asked if we would care for anything other than water to drink. Our order was as follows we had to Mormon muffins, salad bar, full of clam chowder, strawberry pie to be served before the meal, Benedict Arnold, and a beef and things. we help herself to the salad bar he brought the strawberry pie which was okay mediocre back. I excuse myself to use restroom and to look around the gift shop. My party came and got me when the food came to the table and from the distance it looked very good. However my meal was so salty that I was completely unable to eat it. The Benedict Arnold includes an English muffin, ham, swiss cheese and hollandaise sauce. Atop that there two soft boiled eggs. In addition to the Incredible saltiness of the dish, the Hollandaise sauce was chunky and greasy. Hollandaise sauce should be as velvet, the chunky greasy saltiness bears for witness that the dishes was nuked. The eggs were hard fried christening this meal completely and utterly inedible. My spouse and I will not be returning to the greenery restaurant on our own accord. I am saddened by the bad experience, mediocre service and terrible food. It's unfortunate I hope to have a better experience. However I will be returning to prove the gift shop...
Read moretl;dr: food is perfect, front of house is lovely and deserved 4 stars, waiter was literally mean to every table around us
Came in today with friends who have been wanting to take me to the cafe for months. It's a staple in their family, so I was excited to experience it with them. The food was phenomenal, and even the side of fries that came with my turkey bacon on a ciabatta roll was honestly stellar. The entire plate was delicious, and everything I tried from my friends' plates was nothing short of incredible. Every bite was phenomenal. As far as a good brunch/lunch place, this is a favorite, for sure.
However, the service from the waiter was ATROCIOUS. I'm not someone who demands more than the minimum of service from waiters or other service professionals. They have bigger fish to fry, and I try really hard to be as simple for them as possible. A waiter can literally take my order, deliver it, and never check in on me, and I'd be golden. Front of house was perfectly pleasant. Host who sat us was informative and friendly, the cashier was patient and really nice! But the waiter didn't listen, interrupted me with a very rude NO as I was asking my single question of if there was Coke Zero or just Diet Coke, literally only looked at one person in our party in the eye, threw our straws down on the table, had the most impatient tone when we were just trying to submit our orders, and literally sounded like he hated us, like there was somesort of blood feud between us in the 30 seconds he spent at our table rushing us to order.
My friend suggested maybe he was having a bad day, but he came directly behind me to greet the table at my back, immeditely asked the table within a second of greeting them if they were ready to order (they were not), and then stomped off. So it wasn't necessarily just us, he just had big feelings today. I just don't see why the customers had to deal with it. He literally could have not said a word to me and I would have been pleased with his service, but the unwelcoming attitude that i witnessed to all the tables aroundus was just really...
Read moreThis place was the most pleasant surprise I have had in a long while, as far as restaurants go. Absolutely wonderful food! I had the Charbroiled Chicken Club sandwich with pasta salad. There was NOTHING typical about this food. No typical, drippy sauces or normal buns... it was charbroiled teriyaki chicken breast with bacon and melted Swiss cheese, on a pretzel bun, (which I LOVE!), with a "pub mustard" sauce spread on it. It was absolutely, 100% delicious! I was thinking the pasta salad would be the Italian seasoning style, with cucumber and tomatoes, but NO! It was bow-tie pasta, whole grapes, a white dressing and it was AMAZING! It even came with sliced apples on the plate to top it all off as a truly unique lunch. The restaurant itself is at the bottom of a canyon, and is tucked off the roadway enough that you don't hear traffic or smell fumes, and it is INSIDE a huge gift boutique! Beautiful plants all over, beautiful artwork and photos line the walls, and it was exceptional! Never knew they were there, but will go back many times without a doubt. Our server was attentive, kept our needs met and didn't complain or push us when we sat at the table after our meal to catch up. (This was after the lunch rush, people were not waiting to be seated, and she had other open tables). We were so thankful and it made the experience perfect! We bought "Mormon Muffins" on the way out, and then went through the boutique. What I thought would be more like a gift shop turned out to be a marvel of beautiful things of all sorts, for all seasons. I haven't had that good of an experience dining out, in years!! Kudos and many thanks to the owners...
