Jade’s — Restaurant in Ogdensburg

I heard a lot of good things about this place so I decided to give it a try. There were two people in my party and we got the bacon smashburger with fries and the jerk chicken Street tacos with yucca fries. Let's start with the tacos. The jerk chicken had good flavor however it was overbearingly spicy. Almost too much to eat. I did not get this but I tried it. I like spice, but this was way too much to enjoy the actual meal. Let's move on to the yucca fries. I'm a huge fan of yucca fries if done right. Unfortunately they were very bland and almost tasteless. I was really hoping they would bring life to the dish but unfortunately it did not. The rice that came with the tacos was very bland as well. Let's move on to the smashburger. The smashburger was tasty but it had way too much of a sweet taste with the bacon jam on it. It was also so sticky and messy to eat. It was hard to enjoy. The fries were fairly tasty though. They were waffle fries with seasoning on them. The staff was very pleasant and welcoming as soon as you walk in. However, when my partner could barely eat her meal and sent it back, they didn't even offer any type of a discount. She ate one Taco out of the three, three and one yucca fry. We did ask for a discount and they eventually gave it to us but there was nothing offered up front. Usually, in my experience the owners or manager would offer some type of discount up front. Wow, the food was excellent. The chicken was superb. I had a fried chicken salad the plating the way that they served it. It was beautiful. It looked like a work of art and the flavors just came alive. I also had an appetizer empanada unbelievable. It was so good and when you’ve had really bad ones when you get a good one boy do you appreciate it lol the service was outstanding. The restaurant is super clean. The staff was very friendly. The menu was easy to read. Lots of great Options, I can’t believe this is my first time coming here. I will be back. I will update you if necessary right now. It’s a beautiful location and everything was good. The music was the right volume. You don’t hear plates just breaking everywhere. You know how when you’re in a restaurant they never consider the customer when they’re like picking up plates and throwing them in the bin, not here , every single aspect of it was a great experience. I have lived in Sussex County for five years now and Jade’s is about to be my home away from home when I’m seeking a home cooked meal. Everyone definitely DO NOT know how to master grits. Jade’s grits are completely cooked, creamy, flavorful (as a matter of fact) they are perfectly made. NOTE TO JADE: When I come back, please throw me another spoon of grits 😂 on my plate. My shrimp and grits dish: the chef fried the shrimp to perfection with the exact needed crisp without making the shrimp rubbery (master piece) and to season without being heavy on the salt has been achieved with all your dishes.
